"Just wanted to let you know that the agency selling tickets for the Zurich (ticketcorner.ch) show will not ship to the US. I'm not sure if they even ship to other parts of Europe outside Switzerland. They do not have a will call window, either, so if you plan to attend this show and do not have friends in Switzerland who can intercept your tickets (that's the only option they've offered me thus far), be advised that you will have problems. While the agency responds quickly to e-mail correspondence, they are not exactly cooperative, and I have yet to reach an agreement with them. The good news is that the show is general admission, so as long as the show's not sold out, it won't matter when you (finally) get the tix.

On the other hand, www.eventim.de, an agency handling tickets for the Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Oberhausen shows, is fast and relatively easy, even for nongerman speakers. Their order form even includes a drop down menu of foreign shipping charges for various countries."

"Our local station, K-Rock 100.9 in Syracuse, NY, had played "Maybe Someday" for us by request. The Small Guy (all request morning radio) gave it a great intro, etc... Well, we have requested it for the last couple of mornings and it has gone unplayed. We have not heard it played again any other time of the day either. This is a great disappointment! Central New York radio is stuck in a timewarp and could use a good dose of The Cure, but we can't do it alone. We need some help. K-Rock's request number is 315-424-ROCK. "Tickets to shows such as MadTV and Conan do not "sell out" at any point. They give out maybe 10 times as many tickets as there is seat capacity in the particular venue. The point is to arrive to the tapings as early as possible, as they stop letting people inside after a certain number regardless of whether the rest of the people have tickets or not. I have been to MadTV, Conan, Leno, and Letterman tapings throughout the years and this is the procedure. Tickets are free and can even be picked up at the designated area of the television station the day of the taping. Just don't want cure fans to be fooled into thinking that they will be unable to see any of these tv tapings, or have someone sell them a ticket for no reason."

The Cure: All Over Your Telly

The Cure will jump the rapidly moving promo train next month in support of their new, studio effort Bloodflowers (out February 15 on Elektra/Fiction). In addition to a six city tour of US clubs, which commences on February 17 in San Francisco (a warm up for the much larger Dream Tour 2000, set to begin in the Spring), Bob Smith and band (we call him "Bob", much in the same way we call Richard Ashcroft "Dick," because we're all quite daft here) will tape an episode of Fox's Mad TV in Los Angeles on February 18. The Cure's segment of VH1's Hard Rock Live will air the following evening (check Rock on TV that week for times, and further details). On February 29, the band will appear on Late Night with Conan O' Brien (we call him Conan). No one revels in the sumptuous pleasures of melancholy like Robert Smith, the Cure's leading mopemeister. In Smith's world, it is always raining, comfort and happiness are fleeting, love is epic and torturous. On Bloodflowers, the band's 11th studio album, his lyrical prowess continues to astound. Considering the subject matter, Smith's always managed to steer clear of the clichéd, bad-high-school-poetry trap, and on Bloodflowers, the imagery is some of his most vivid and stabbing. On "The Loudest Sound," a story about a couple who are, of course, growing apart, he sings of their tension: "She dreams him as a boy / And he loves her as a girl / And side by side in the silence without a single word / It's the loudest sound I ever heard." The music grows out of the same dichromatic marriage of love's eternal hope and heartbreak's inevitable bleakness. Layers of the Cure's signature ethereal, buoyant guitar licks are paced at the momentum of a lava lamp, while melodies lurk only in an understated synth or distorted guitar. None of the songs scream "radio hit" like Wish's "Friday I'm in Love" anomaly; and although Bloodflowers is less abstract, comparisons to Disintegration are easily drawn. If this really threatens to be the last Cure album--no, really, the real end--it's a vision of loneliness and loveliness, a low note rarely surpassed in beauty and breadth. --Beth Massa

"There won't be 200 people at the gig but more probably between 800-1000. The FNAC store gave 200 invitations to the first people, they give 80 tickets per day until Friday that people can win, plus 50 invitations for RTL, the radio station, and 50 for Rock'n'Folk, the magazine. Meaning 200+(80*5)+50+50=700, considering that other people (journalists, special guests etc) will be there, I'd say 800 people."

The second midlife crisis

After the astonishing happy sounds of "Wild Mood Swings", Cure-boss Robert Smith falls back to the well-known melancholy. Originally "Bloodflowers" should have been released in 1998, a second release date was assumed to be in spring 1999 and has been pushed back without any comments, too. Now "Bloodflowers" will be released definetely on february 14th and Robert Smith explains the delay like this:

"When I met the band for the first discussions on the album I already had an exact imagination on how the album should sound like. But I had mouldy feelings because we hadn´t played together for a long time. So I suggested to play a few festivals first. And like I feared, there were a lot of problems in the band that took place during the festival tour. There were really hateful discussions and quarrels." At last this was like a cleansing thunderstorm and now Robert is glad that this happened on tour and not in the studio. And, differently from the past, The Cure survived this phase undamaged, no one left the band and Smith has fired nobody.

They recorded "Bloodflowers" instead, an album that reminds tendentiously in it´s mood of more melancholic works like "Disinitegration". The songs are intense, the lyrics are very intimate and very gloomy. "This album is quite parallel to "Disintegration". When I wrote it I got 30 - a point where many people look back and reflect on what they did in the last ten years. With "Bloodflowers" it´s similar, as I turned from 39 to 40. For this reason I wanted to make a very honest autobiographical album." More on this in the next issue.

"The national "youth" radio station in Australia, JJJ played Coming Up as a taster for the new album last Friday -which suggests that we'll be getting it on the local release of the album, I dare say! "I just arrived from the FNAC store at "La Défense" and got a ticket for the show !!! They gave 200 tickets to the first ones arrived and there's a drawing every day until this friday for those who couldn't go to the Fnac early this morning. In fact people can participate until 3.00 am today, the first draw is today, there's 80 tickets to win by day. So, there could be more than 700 seats ! If the cover photo of this one is any indication, Cure singer Robert Smith seems to be the '80s equivalent of Dorian Gray: He looks just like he did 20 years ago. Now his seminal goth-indie-wave band returns with its 13th studio album, Bloodflowers, which Billboard reports is being billed as the third of a trilogy that includes 1982's Pornography and 1989's Disintegration. The nine tracks were recorded in London and Surrey, England, and co-produced by Smith and Paul Korkett.

"Today there was an article about the Cure in Austrias biggest newspaper, the "Kronen Zeitung". They said that the Cure will be in Vienna in April and that tickets are on sale now. There were no other real news in that article. They only said that the Cure will have their 25th anniversary next year:

"It's hard to believe: next year the british cult band the Cure will have their 25th anniversary. 1976 Robert Smith shocked the establishment with his smeared make-up. Just an interesting little Cure sighting. I was flipping through TV late Friday night when I cam accross the Late Show and there was Craig kilborn wearing a bad Robert Smith wig and singing along to Friday I'm In Love. The audience was cheering more than laughing... I missed what it was about. He took off the wig and went right into the next subject. It was probably just because it was Friday.

"The Cure's 1986 "Boys Don't Cry" re-release came in at number 14 on the UK's VH1 top 40 of the 80's.

The single was mis-reported as coming from the album "Boys Don't Cry - 1983", the confusion probably arising due to the fact that the US compilation "Boys Don't Cry" was first released in the UK in that year.

The single was of course released from "Standing On A Beach" in 1986, being a re-release and new mix of the original 1979 single from "Three Imaginary Boys". "

"Robert talks about "Bloodflowers" and says that he started to write bloodflowers on his 39th birthday and that the album would like to be about "becoming older". He aslo says that he composed the album in about 6 week. For Robert this "work" was too hard to do and less fun than the others . Then he says that since "Disintegration" he has told the members of the band that every albulm was the last. That maybe made the others think that he was always joking, but Robert says that if "Bloodflowers" will be the last album he is satisfied because there couldn't be a better end. At the end he says that 5 years ago an album like "Bloodflowers" looks for him very negative but now it is very OK."

"I have just called the FNAC store which is distributing part of the tickets for the Paris promotional gig on 7th February. They told me that it is not possible to just turn up and collect tickets on 24th January. Then it says where you can buy them (postoffices) and a telephone number. Tickets cost 57,50 and 55 Guilders ($1 = about 2 guilder).Show starts at 8 PM. At the bottom is a note about the new album, that it is released at February 14th as we all know."

"Today I phoned the concert agency and all the possible places where this gig could take place. And this is the current status - Concert agency confirmed that there is going to be ONE concert in Poland (there were still some talks about the second gig few days ago, but as they say "probably it won't take place"). But there are still two places reserved for this event - Lodz Hala Sportowa (for 13th, 14th and 15th of april) and Torwar (also a sport hall) in Warsaw for 14th of april. There is still no final agreement with any of this objects. 100% info (also the tickets details) is to be available till the end of January."

"Early last week (January 11 or 12) illegally printed "Bloodflowers" CDs became available in Minsk, Belarus (former republic of the USSR). The level of piracy is very high here (it's better to say - the level of the legal business is very low), but still such an early appearance of such an important release is unusual. The origin of the CDs is unknown - it may have been produced in Russia, the Ukraine or Belarus itself. It seems that the CD has been printed from the Japanese promo, as it contains the full tracklisting of the Japanese edition, including "Coming Up" at No.5, and likely fake art. A very small image of a red flower, taken from the official Cure site (www.thecure.com), is used (magnified and well diffused) as the cover and the "Bloodflowers" logo from the same source graces it. The label information is somewhat ridiculous, giving the copyright and publishing credit to Warner Music at one place and to it's division - EastWest Records Gmbh at the other. It also says: "Made in Germany by Warner Music Manufacturing Europe". The music, recorded on the CD, is of no doubt the new Cure album. And the price is ridiculous - just up to 2 dollars per CD.

The Cure return to London after Astoria sell-out.

THE CURE are to play a London stadium date this April, Music365 can reveal.

The perennially popular Goth-pop godfathers will play London's Wembley Arena on April 22.

It is part of a large-scale European tour the band will play after a series of showcase gigs around the release of their latest studio LP, 'Bloodflowers', which will be released on February 14.

The band had previously announced a London Astoria date for February 9 which sold out in hours.

The Cure will also play over 20 European dates in March, April and May.

And this is what they had to say about the new album in their Albums of 2000 report:

The Cure are back again, and like several of the old hands releasing new albums, they are promoting it through reference to previous triumphs while threatening to retire. So 'Bloodflowers' has been described as the final segment of the trilogy begun with 'Pornography' and 'Disintegration'. It was completed in June 1999, but Cure mainman Robert Smith was unwilling to see it lost in the pre-Millennial Xmas rush, prompting the eight month delay. Expect the bleary-eyed, bleaker side of the band to be on display, and look out for them in your town - a few small shows in Europe and America will be followed by a full scale jaunt around the world.

"I called the Belgian ticket company with respect to the ticket problem for the Brussels gig. They told me that for now there was nothing to worry about. As soon as they are ready to send the tickets they will, depending on the time left, (a) either send all tickets by post or (b) send only Belgian tickets by post or (c) send no tickets. For now the ticket company - or at least the woman I spoke to - still thinks (a) will be the case.

The tickets that are not sent will be available at the entrance before the concert, by name - if you've reserved by the 0900-number and only given a phone number, remember that your tickets will be on the name of the 'owner' of that telephone number, as is printed in the phone guide. I assume they will take care of a good organisation when all tickets have to be given at the entrance. Nevertheless, it's a good idea that I (or somebody else) call(s) again next week to make an update of these facts so that people can take care of being there on time when all tickets have to be given at the entrance and so that if the tickets are not sent to people from abroad, they can make a call first to ensure that their tickets will be there (although I'm not sure that will be possible).

Conclusion: for now I wouldn't worry too much - I'll try to give an update in the middle of next week!"

"Seems that their is a communication problem caused by language differences. The tickets will normally arrive this friday (a common mistake made while translation from Ducth to English is that the guy from the ticket office probably said 'the tickets will arrive NEXT friday') at the ticket office. They will mail them beginning of next week, leaving almost one and a half week for all the tickets to arrive to the owners. If tickets would not arrive in time, bring proof from your bank office you paid the bill. This could be a stamped slip coming from the bill you received for the tickets. Or the copy (maybe also bring the original) of your bank the overview documents you receive from your bank, stating the payment to the account of the ticket office."

Robert blames Bernard Lenoir for playing Bloodflowers songs on his show

Yesterday ( Jan 17th ) on French radio station France Inter, Bernard Lenoir interviewed JD Beauvallet from French weekly Music, Cinema and Litterature magazine "Les Inrockuptibles", who lives in Brighton UK. He reported that Robert knew that Bernard Lenoir played BloodFlowers songs on his show without permission and that he felt "both amused and quite angry" about it. "Today, I phoned up the Belgium ticket company for the promo show in Brussels and it seems as it will be still a hard way to pass until one has got his tickets. Until now, they haven't even got the tickets themselves. So, they cannot send them out, yet. And according to the woman on the phone it is probable that the tickets won't even arrive next week!!! That would mean that the tickets can only be send out in February, 2 days before the show!!!

That would mean a huge problem for everyone who has ordered the tix from outside Belgium. A friend of mine has just received his bill to pay for the tickets that he ordered via internet. The letter took 5 days from Belgium to Germany and now he has to transfer the money. If the money arrives in Belgium, the tickets will be sent out, but of course, only when the ticket company has the tickets. Then, another few days can be expected until the letters arrive and probably they arrive too late...?! Very confusing.

That would mean that there is no other possibilty for people from outside Belgium than to get the tickets at the ticket box the night of the show. So, anyone who has ordered tickets and does not come from Belgium better phone up the ticket company to find a solution. And maybe even those from Belgium will become problems, when the post in Belgium is not that reliable and needs more than a day to deliver the letters.

Maybe almost all have to get the tickets on the third of February directly at the ticket box??? Don't know how that should work...How should one prove that he has ordered tickets and that he has already paid for them?? I can imagine of people who have driven hundreds of miles, who have paid their tickets but who don't get their tickets at the ticket box, because the person in the box says that all tickets are gone and there is no chance... So, everyone phone up the ticket company to create big pressure!!!

And maybe someone from Belgium can phone the ticket company up to discuss this problem??? That would be very kind as it is very difficult to discuss this problem in English...

Finaly, a short info about the Hamburg promo gig: Yesterday I phoned up Karsten Jahnke, the German ticket company and a man told me that they have got much to do at the moment. But they have started to send out the tickets for the Hamburg promo shows yesterday. So, the letters will probably arrive around Wednesday/Thursday. That's it for now and I hope someone from Belgium can help out to clarify this confusion about the Belgium promo show tix."

The gig, the band's first UK show for four years, is a warm-up before The Cure begin promoting their new upcoming opus, Bloodflowers, their 13th studio album. Dateline: January 8, 2000

One of the most anticipated new releases of 2000 is The Cure's album bloodflowers, a long awaited followup to their album Wild Mood Swings from 1996. Their album will be hitting Europe and "the rest of the world" on Valentines Day (February 14) and the United States and Japan on the 15th. This album was originally slated for release in early 1999, but the group found delays touring for festivals in the summer of 98 and general studio production complications. Frontman (and co-producer) Robert Smith stated on the Official Cure website

the recording started quite slowly in fall 98 as we were trying out a lot of 'new tech' - weird hard disc recorders, computer editors etc etc

The anticipation surrounding the release of this album stems from official reports that they have returned to the style of music that their 1982 album Pornography and their 1989 release Disintegration both took. It's this style which has strongly planted The Cure in the vein of gothic rock. In an interview with CMJ journalist, M. Tye Comer, Robert was asked why the return to this style of music.

I just didn't really feel like writing or performing pop songs this time around. I wanted the album to have a lot more coherency and more emotional depth... and not have the mood broken by a couple of radio-friendly singles. -Robert Smith

This album, similar to Disintegration marks a very special period for Robert, a transitional period in his own life which reflects his passage into the age of 40. He wanted the album to have an autobiographical feel to it, but has not written a biographical album since Disintegration.

The current Cure line-up, the same which released Wild Mood Swings is; Robert Smith (Vocals/Guitar), Simon Gallup (Bass), Perry Bamonte (Guitar), Roger O'Donnell (Keyboards) and Jason Cooper (Drums).

There has been a good deal of speculation as to whether or not the band will play some promotional dates in Europe and at the time of this writing their has been no official statement.

The Cure have been since 1979, one of the most pivotal and musically diverse post-punk bands to emerge from England. Reincarnated continually throughout their history by mainman Robert Smith (b. April 21, 1959) they have recorded in a distinct array of musical styles which include pop, gothic, punk, but are most remembered for the dark and gloomy music that helped define gothic music of the time.

The Cure have announced live promo concerts in Europe and America in support of their upcoming disc Bloodflowers. The dates, which kick off in Germany on February 1, are set for smaller venues, however a full scale world tour, dubbed Dream Tour 2000, is set to kick off in the Spring. Bloodflowers, set for release on February 15, will be preceded by a pair of promo singles: an edited version of the album track "Out of This World," for the UK, and a remixed version of "Maybe Someday," which will hit US radio stations this month.

The Cure have announced dates for a low-key promotional tour for Bloodflowers (Feb. 15).

The gloom-rock veterans will perform a handful of dates in Europe beginning Feb. 1 in Hamburg, Germany, before heading to the United States for shows starting Feb. 17 in San Francisco. They'll play mostly clubs in the U.S. six-city tour.

The Cure are scheduled to launch a full-scale road trip in Europe in late March and are calling the outing Dream Tour 2000.

Bloodflowers, the Cure's 13th studio album, will be the first new material from the band since Wild Mood Swings (1996), which featured the singles "Mint Car" and "The 13th".

The Cure Warms Up For World Tour With Mini-Tour Of Smaller Venues

''Bloodflowers,'' the band's 17th studio album, is due on Feb. 15.

Prototype British Goth-rockers The Cure, who plan to embark on a world tour of large venues later this year, have scheduled six U.S. performances at more intimate venues for February. Ticket on-sale dates haven't been announced, but an itinerary has been posted on the band's official website. Prior to the U.S. mini-tour, the band will perform at four small European venues.

The world tour, dubbed ''The Cure Dream Tour 2000,'' opens in late March in Spain, and will remain in Europe through early May. Though a U.S. leg of the world tour is planned for later in 2000, those dates haven't been announced.

A new Cure album titled ''Bloodflowers,'' initially expected in the spring of 1999, is now scheduled for release in the U.S. on Feb. 15. ''Bloodflowers'' is the 17th studio album of the Cure's 23-year run, and the band's first album of new material since 1996.

The band's line-up, which after several years of turmoil has remained stable for more than five years, includes Cure leader Robert Smith on vocals and guitar, Simon Gallup on bass, Perry Bamonte on guitar, Roger O'Donnell on keyboards and Jason Cooper on drums.

Last year in New York, The Cure recorded an episode of VH1's ''Hard Rock Live'' for broadcast on Feb. 19.

The Cure Announces U.S. Mini-Tour The Cure's Robert Smith

The Cure has officially announced dates for a low key promo tour in advance of the release of the band's latest album, "Bloodflowers," due out February 15 (See "The Cure To Return With "Bloodflowers").

The group will perform a handful of dates in Europe from February 1 to 9 before heading Stateside for shows starting February 17 in San Francisco. The performances are for the most part scheduled for club venues in half a dozen major centers.

The band will launch a full scale road trip starting in Europe in late March under the moniker "Dream Tour 2000."

According to the group's official Web site, an edited version of the song "Maybe Someday," remixed by Mike Hedges (who produced the group's early '80s releases "Seventeen Seconds" and "Faith"), is being shipped to U.S. radio this month as a promo single. There are no current plans to shoot any videos.

THE CURE play a low-key gig at the London WC1 Astoria on February 9.

It'll be the first chance for fans to hear material from the band's forthcoming new album 'Bloodflowers', out on February 14 through Fiction Records.

"I called today the Karsten Jahnke concert-agency, who is the organizer of the "Dream Tour" in Germany and the man on the phone told me that in Germany only three shows are already on sale but one is already sold out(Hamburg Feb. 1st). "Just some info about the radio edit of Maybe Someday, which I just listened to on 107.7 The End here in Seattle. The verses come up a bit faster, so there's less guitar stuff between them. There's also a more prominent 3rd guitar layer and a funky little electronic sound during the chorus ("I see you smile when you call my name..."). There's also an added piano and synth part in the very last verse. Overall, Robert's voice sounds cleaner than it does on the album and there's even a more prominent back-up vocal track as well. The song's length has also been cut down...it's probably around 3:30 now instead of the 4+ minutes it is on the album. It sounds really good, although the lack of guitar riffs between the verses gives it a kind of hurried sound (but only since I've already heard the album version). The funky electronic sound during the chorus is kind of weird, but I do like the added piano/keyboard parts.

Bill Reid, who introduced it during the 107 Minutes of Non-Stop Music at 5 o'clock, announced it as a world premiere of the first single off (and he stressed this a lot) "The Cure's last album ever" and mentioned the San Francisco promo show as well."

There will be two different promo singles released to radio (both in Jan.): An edited version of 'Out of This World' will be released in the UK & elsewhere and an edited version of 'Maybe Someday' remixed by Mike Hedges will be released in the US.

The album will be released on vinyl and will include 'Coming Up'.

There are no plans at this time to make any videos for the new album.

Two more of the "missing songs" have been revealed: 'Spilt Milk' and 'You're So Happy!'. Combined with the previously known 'Coming Up' and 'Just Say Yes', that accounts for 4 of the 6. So what are the other two and are they lost forever?

Next month - Valentine's Day to be exact - The Cure release their 13th official studio album, titled 'Bloodflowers.' You really have no reason to be excited by this, based on the most recent Cure releases. 'Wild Mood Swings' was a horrible piece of shit and seemed to be a tragically disjointed and uninventive end to a meandering yet overall impressive career. A sad, unfitting way to go for the band that gave the world 'A Night Like This,' 'All Cats Are Grey,' 'A Forest,' '10:15 Saturday Night' and, er, 'Lovecats.' But - and this is a huge but - word from 'the kids on the street' is that The Ass That Walks Like A Man, Robert Smith, and his Men In Black have created a final masterpiece with 'Bloodflowers,' adding to the legacy of classic Cure depresso-core given previous miserable face with the burrowing 'Pornography' (1982) and the huge black sea of 'Disintegration' (1989) - 'Bloodflowers' is the final statement in an art-house trio of releases, if you like. As soon as we get an advance copy, expect some kind of review IN-THESE-VERY-PAGES.

Whole Lada Shakin' Goin' On

Cure frontman Robert Smith has revealed he almost killed himself and his band mates when he drunkenly drove his car 'off-road' and rolled it down a hillside.

Smith was famous for driving a cumbersome, Russian built Lada complete with Russian language controls, and one night in 1986 he decided to escape the stress of recording by taking a night time drive. Unfortunately the whole band were crammed into the car at the time.

"I managed to roll the Lada down a mountainside," the Cure man told Q magazine. "I go off-roading occasionally, drunkenly at night across fields."

The band, but sadly not the Lada, survived and Smith and his fellow survivors return in February with the release of the brilliant, if challenging, 'Bloodflowers' album.

The band is now back with a new album, "Bloodflower", which will be available in stores on February 14th. Update (10:56 am) - I've received an e-mail from Duane Doherty, program director at KDGE and here's what he had to say:

"The information you're hearing about a "radio squabble" between 94.5 The Edge and 93.3 The Merge in Dallas over the possible upcoming Cure concert is completely untrue. This supposed pissing match between the two stations doesn't exist and is a figment of someone's over active imagination. The Edge has supported the Cure for 11 years now and will support the band in the future. "

I've contacted the Merge and they said their program director will be contacting us to give their side of the story. Whatever might be going on in Dallas, it should be made clear that this has nothing to do with the band. If there is a dispute, they are simply caught in the middle (as Elektra is to some degree) and probably have no control over the matter. Let's just hope that whatever problems exist in Dallas get cleared up so that we can still get a show there.

Update (1:36 pm) - Here's the response from the Merge:

"I've tried to find out true information about the Cure. I know that they were scheduled for Dallas, the label talked to Merge Radio about the show and the new song, I was told The Edge playing Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock would not play the new Cure music. Now The Edge says they put the Cure back on their station so no one else get's the show. They said they would rather that the Cure didn't come to town if they weren't the station involved.

I don't know what's true or not. All I do know is Merge will keep you up to date, will do all we can to get the show here. We will try to do whatever it takes to get the Cure here."

Update (2:47 pm) - Just heard back from Duane at KDGE. This seems to put the issue to rest once and for all (I hope!):

"Instead of giving any ONE radio station the promotional rights to the show, they would make it a "neutral show" and everyone would get the same promotional opportunities (ticket giveaways, backstage passes, etc.). We received the information on the concert date from Elektra records and it was my call to go on-air with it before it was totally confirmed. The Merge was simply trying to make it look like they had the rights to the show by putting it on their website and calling it theirs....an old radio trick. In reality, it was tentative all along. As I've been told today, it looks good for Dallas and I should have a confirmation by the end of the day from Elektra. Again, NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED as of yet. "

So that's the situation as of now. Hopefully everything will work out, the show will go on as scheduled, and both stations will promote the show and give away tickets & passes.

"The reason the show may be moved to Atlanta has to do with KDGE not playing any Cure music (more a Kid Rock/Limp Bizkit station), but having promoted the Cure in past shows. Merge FM have been playing loads of Cure, and so secured promotional rights. But, KDGE contested this with Elektra/Fiction and, rather than get into a silly radio dispute, the label declared that they may simply move the show to WNNX-99X in Atlanta."

(it was a joke, listeners loved it). birdmadgirl and beatrix7 will be the djs for this cure night. they rock!!!!!!"

"Bloodflowers" is said to be the final part of a trilogy begun in 1982 with the album "Pornography" and continued in 1989 with the album "Disintegration".

The last studio album with new songs from The Cure was released in 1996, named "Wild Mood Swings", but did not have good sales all over the world.

Robert Smith told to the Los Angeles Times that "Bloodflowers" could be the last album of The Cure, who began it´s activities in 1976.

Since 1980 there were rumours and talks about the end of the band, but The Cure still keeps working and doing concerts.

Not even The Cure fans believe anymore those rumours from Bob Smith.

A new world tour, called "Dream Tour", is planned for this year, but still has no dates confirmed.

Let´s hope for The Cure to come to Brasil again for some concerts.

"The first big rock releases of 2000 aren't slated to begin arriving until February, when the diminutive Robert Smith marks his fourth successive decade of working under the Cure moniker with the new Blood Flowers (Elektra), a disc Cure fans will remember was originally scheduled for the sprig of '99. This time, we're told the disc is actually done and will be in stores on February 15. Even if it comes to pass, that release will probably be overshadowed by two big rock albums due a couple of weeks later from two '90a chartbusters from opposite sides of the Atlantic (Smashing Pumpkins and Oasis).

THE CURE: SAY IT WITH 'BLOODFLOWERS'

Goth legendsThe Cure release their 13th studio album 'Bloodflowers' on February 14 as a special Valentine's gift for fans.

According to the band, the album completes a trilogy started in 1982 with the LP 'Pornography' and continued with the 1989 release of 'Disintegration'.

'Bloodflowers' was co-produced by leadsinger and mainman ROBERT SMITH and was recorded last year in London and Surrey by a Cure line-up which has miraculously stayed intact for the past five years. They are Smith on voice and guitar, SIMON GALLUP on bass, PERRY BAMONTE on guitar, ROGER O'DONNELL on keyboards and JASON COOPER on drums.

It's hoped the band will play a handful of promotional dates around Europe and the US around the album's release, then a full tour is planned for later in the year. Details have yet to be announced.

Curemania resists times

The Cure, that band from the early 80's, from that guy with strange hair and a blasé look, known as Robert Smith, promises to be news again in the year 2000.

In february, they will be releasing the album bloodflowers, maybe the last one from the british guys. People who have listened to it say that it is amazing, but fans talk shall be confirmed first.

Meanwhile the cd isn't out yet, argentinian cure fans honoured their idols with an unique tribute, with the claim of "the most important claim that a band ever got". The Pink Pig Project, idealized in 1998, comes like this: independent bands from all over the world doing covers from all cure songs, even the B sides. It will be more than 200 songs, on a 12 cd boxset, named "Pink Pig - The whole cure in the mirror", and will be released in february, together with bloodflowers.

The box will be available only through the internet and the box #1 already has an owner: it will be given, in hands, to Robert Smith, in London, when the dream tour, that will promote the new CD, begins.

From Brasil, 4 bands where taken, all of them from Porto Alegre. The bands are: Make Bekieve, with happy the man; Satelite M.V.R., with Harold and Joe; Spleen, with Round & Round & Round; and Phonica, with All cats are grey.

The Cure Readies 13th Album For Feb. Release

British modern rock veterans the Cure will return next month with their 13th studio album, "Bloodflowers." The set will be released Feb.14 in the U.K. by Fiction/Polydor and the following day in the U.S. by Elektra.

The nine-track "Bloodflowers" is being presented as the final part of a trilogy that started with the 1982 album "Pornography" and continued in 1989 with "Disintegration." Band leader Robert Smith co-produced the new album with Paul Corkett at RAK Studios in London and Fisher Lane Farm in Surrey.

The Cure are planning some small promo shows in Europe and the U.S. to support the release, before embarking on a worldwide "Dream Tour." After completing recording of "Bloodflowers" last year, the band recorded an edition of VH1's "Hard Rock Live," due to be broadcast in the spring.

New Cure Album Leaks on the Internet

"MP3 uploaders gave Usenet News Group readers a New Year's treat this past week, uploading pre-release MP3 files of new material from the Smashing Pumpkins, the Cure, and Oasis.

From Oasis, two new tracks "Go Let It Out" and "Who Feels Love" were uploaded to alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1990s by a user named "sneaker" on Dec. 30. Both tracks sound muffled, however, as if they were dubbed numerous times on tape before they were turned into MP3s. Someone else uploaded a high quality version of "The Everlasting Gaze," a hard rocking new tune by the Smashing Pumpkins.

On Dec. 28-29, someone using the alias of ÑóTHiNG uploaded the new Cure album Bloodflowers in its entirety. The ten Cure tracks are:

- Out of This World - Watching Me Fall - Where the Birds Always Sing - Maybe Someday - Coming Up - The Last Day of Summer - There is No If - The Loudest Sound - 39 - Bloodflowers

All are recorded in a very high quality MP3 format, at 192 Kbps and 44.1 KHz stereo. As a personal note, "Maybe Someday" and "Coming Up" sound awesome, harkening back to the moody thrash days of Wish or Disintegration! The title track brings back that searing guitar that burns the skin off your face in the front row. The formal release remains scheduled for Feb. 14/15, 2000."
