Required by state law, the annual report provides information on all forfeitures of assets from illegal drug activities initiated throughout the state during calendar year 2002. The report also includes the number of cases for which forfeiture was ordered or declared, the value of assets and recipients of forfeited assets.

This report by the Attorney General's Civil Rights Commission on Hate Crimes makes various findings and outlines 16 recommendations to improve the reporting of hate crimes in local communities, in schools and by law enforcement agencies. In preparing the report, members of the Commission visited nearly two dozen diverse communities throughout California. The Commission heard from various members of the community, including students, seniors, people with disabilities, parents and working families.

Commissioned by the Attorney General, this report, "California's Closed Hospitals, 1995-2000," provides the first close look at hospital closures statewide. The study by the recently created Petris Center on Health Care Markets and Consumer Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, focuses on reasons for the hospital closures, distribution of the closed facilities and the characteristics of the closed hospitals.
