Director of the Office of Victims' Services

Jonathan Raven was appointed director of the Office of Victims' Services on August 22, 2002.

A 1991 graduate of Loyola Law School, Raven was a deputy district attorney in Yolo County for eight years. He prosecuted a variety of cases including child sexual assault, rape and murder.

"Working as a deputy district attorney has prepared me for this new and exciting challenge," Raven said. "Attorney General Lockyer and I both have so much compassion for victims and are also passionate about working to assist victims. There's nothing more rewarding than bringing some sense of justice to a crime victim...we can't make life the way it was, but we can help heal the deep emotional wounds. I look forward to continue to work directly with victims, to develop and implement programs for victims, and to help create new laws that promote the rights of victims."

Raven has been an advisory board member of Crime Victims United of California and chaired the City of Davis Hate Crimes Committee. He also has served on the Child Exploitation Task Force and been a member of the California District Attorneys Association. He is a law enforcement training instructor for POST and an adjunct professor in criminal trial advocay at the University of California, Davis School of Law.
