Tribal Key Employee

Tribal Key Employees are defined as persons employed by California Tribal casinos in a supervisory or management capacity empowered to make discretionary decisions regarding the operation of Class III gaming activities.

The TGA submits their Key Employee applications to the Division of Gambling Control (Division) for their review and recommendation for a Finding of Suitability. Upon receipt of a completed application, the Division conducts a background investigation pursuant to 6.5.6 (b) of the Compact to determine whether the applicant is suitable for licensure in a gambling establishment pursuant to the Gambling Control Act (Business and Professions Code section 19800 et seq).
