Senate Bill 23 Assault Weapon "Pistol Grip" Information
To implement recent assault weapon legislation, the Department of Justice has proposed regulations to define assault weapon characteristics. Under the proposed regulations, the proposed definition for "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon" means "a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing."
THESE RIFLES AS CONFIGURED ARE REGULATED AS ASSAULT WEAPONS
Under the proposed regulations, these firearms are considered to have pistol grips because each of the grips allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
THESE RIFLES AS CONFIGURED WOULD NOT BE REGULATED AS ASSAULT WEAPONS
Although these firearms are centerfire, semi-automatic rifles capable of accepting detachable magazines, they do not have conspicuously protruding pistol grips because none of the grips allow for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
