CRACKDOWN PROGRAM
The CrackDown Program, since October 1989, has provide a coordinated statewide law enforcement program directed at the Colombian drug cartels and street gangs engaged in the trafficking of cocaine and related money laundering activities in California. In support of this mission, the program established: narcotic enforcement and money laundering teams in the major metropolitan areas of the state where the cocaine problem is most severe; and a statewide interagency strategy for utilizing field narcotics investigations information, criminal intelligence information, and financial information to identify targets.
The objectives of the CrackDown Program are to identify target areas in consultation with local agencies; conduct investigations and collect criminal intelligence information on gang/crack cocaine trafficking within the targeted areas; and prepare intelligence summaries of investigations for local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
