William H. H. Hart 16th Attorney General

William H. H. Hart An English immigrant at age four, he was captured by the Blackhawk Indians, then later orphaned at age 11. With his turbulent upbringing, he directed his youthful energy and desire for danger by joining the Secret Service at age 14. He bravely fought in the violent battlefields of the Civil War. Elected as Attorney General on November 4,1890, and took office January 5,1891. Died on May 12,1903, at the age of 55.
