Configuration
The Interceptor is configured dynamically each time a
packet is intercepted for which there is no defined
action. In this situation, a dialog is presented asking
what to do:
Action - accept or reject the packet
Scope - Decide if the action applies for the current packet
only or for future packets as well.
Matching - Defines which properties (host and port or
host only) of a future packet that has to match for selecting this
action.
The lists of actions can be edited using the "Inbound" and "Outbound"
tabs of the Interceptor configuration dialog. In these lists the
actions selected in the dialog earlier is presented port by port.
For each port one of three policies "accept", "reject" and "check
address" can be selected. The third choice makes the trap layer
look at the network address (source or destination, for inbound
and outbound traffic respectively) as well as the port. This corresponds
to the host and port option from the trap dialog earlier.
Filtering can be controlled globally in the "Global" tab. The color of the base of the taskbar monitoring applet is blue when filtering is "on" and gray when filtering is "off". The applet is also gray if the trap layer has failed to initialize and filtering therefore is disabled.
