DiveCalc is intended to automate calculations and lookups done on the NAUI Dive Tables (see http://www.naui.org/table.htm for details). It is NOT intended to replace the tables, and users are strongly urged to double-check DiveCalc output against actual tables for accuracy. DiveCalc may have errors!
To start calculating dive info, start at the top of the screen in the box labelled "Dive 1" and enter your planned Depth for your first dive. As the Depth field is a spinbox, you can either type in the number, tap the up- and down-arrows in the spinbox, or press the up and down buttons on the directional pad. Pressing the "Calculate" button now will display the Maximum Dive Time under (A)MDT for the given depth.
Next, enter the Actual Dive Time (ADT) for the first dive. Pressing the "Calculate" button now will add the ADT and the RNT, and put the results in the TNT field. If you changed the Depth, the (A)MDT will also be recalculated.
The final field that requires user input in the Dive 1 box is the SIT field. This field takes the diver's Surface Interval Time in minutes, and will be used when calculating Dive 2. This spinbox accepts values from 0-1440. The numbers represent minutes (1440 minutes = 24 hours, which is the maximum on the NAUI SIT table - table 2). Pressing Calculate after entering the SIT will recalculate all of the values on the screen. The output (TNT, (A)MDT, etc.) won't change if the input (Depth, ADT, SIT) hasn't changed.
After Dive 1 has been entered, Dive 2 and then Dive 3 can be entered in the same way. DiveCalc can make it easy to consider multiple dive profiles quickly by automating the table lookups - therefore helping the planning stage of your dive.
