Summary of Changes

Fixes:
1. Fixes email text formatting of email messages when text view is de-selected (default).

2. Fixes screen corruption page view percentage is changed on PDF documents viewed in the Opera browser.

3. Fixes corruption of Birthday and Anniversary fields when receiving a beamed contact from Pocket PC 2002 devices.

Enhancements:
1. Email text wraps when composing email messages.

2. Added search field in the index view of the Address Book.

Installation Instructions


System ROM update for Intellisync Users
Warning: Before initializing the ROM update, you must first backup any data that you want to keep. All the applications which you installed, your PIM information and your settings will be erased when installing the new ROM. You can skip the backup step if you are willing to lose this information.

1. Backup installed applications:
Installed applications, PIM data (Address Book, Calendar, To do, Email) and settings will be lost during the update. To store this information, please follow the following steps. You will need a SD or CF memory card. Insert a CF or SD card into the appropriate card slots on the Zaurus and turn the device on. Tap the Q icon in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Settings, and then tap on Backup Restore. On the Backup/Restore screen, tap on Backup, tap on CF (if you want to backup to the CF card) or SD (if you want backup to the SD card), then tap on Start.

2. Backup documents:
This step can be skipped if you do not want to backup your documents on the Zaurus. Place the Zaurus into the docking station with the unit powered on and open the Intellisync file transfer program by clicking on the Intellisync icon in the system tray on your PC and selecting File Transfer. In the Zaurus Documents window, the window located on the right side of the File Transfer window, select the files which are on your Zaurus that you want to backup and click on the blue arrow pointing to the left. Close the File Transfer Window after the transfer is complete.

3. Download the Sytem ROM and System ROM update utility:
Download the ospack.srom file and qpe-appROM_1.5.0-1_arm.ipk files (below) and save them in the Intellisync Access folder located on the Windows desktop.

4. Transfer the System ROM and System ROM update utility to the Zaurus:
With the Zaurus unit powered on and docked in the docking station, open the file transfer program by clicking on the Intellisync icon in the system tray of the PC and selecting File Transfer. In the PC:Accessfolder, the box on the left side of the File Transfer window, select ospack.srom and qpe-appROM_1.5.0-1_arm.ipk files and click on the red arrow pointing to the right. Note: The System ROM file is quite large and could take several minutes to transfer. When the transfer is complete, the two files will appear in the Zaurus:Documents window located on the right side of the File Transfer window. Close the File Transfer Window.

5. Install the System ROM Update utility:
On the Zaurus unit, tap on the Q button in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Settings, then tap on Add/Remove Software. In the Add/Remove Software window, select Install packages. In the Package Installer window, tap on qpe-appROM. In the Install window, select RAM and then select the OK button. Now tap on the "x" in the top right corner of the Package Installer window, then tap on the "x" in the top right corner of the Add/Remove Software window. You will see a timer while the packages are installing.

6. Update the System ROM:
IMPORTANT: THE ZAURUS UNIT MUST BE CONNECTED TO EXTERNAL AC POWER DURING THE ROM UPDATE! On the Zaurus unit, tap on the "Q" button in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Applications, then tap on UpdateROM. Read the warning information on the screen and tap on the Yes button if you accept the Warning. Read the information on the next screen and then tap on Update. The Email (green LED) and Battery Charge (Amber LED) will both turn on during the System ROM update. The System ROM update will take several minutes. After the two LEDs turn off, the System ROM update is complete.

7. Perform a full reset:
Slide the switch on the back of the Zaurus from Normal Operation to Replace Battery. Remove the battery door cover. With the tip of the stylus, press the full reset button (see Operation Manual for location of Full Reset Button). Slide the battery door cover back into its location and slide the switch back to the Normal Operation setting. The System ROM is now complete.

System ROM update for Qtopia(TM) Desktop Users
Warning: Before the ROM update, you must first backup any data that you want to keep.

1. Backup installed applications:

You will need a SD or CF memory card. Insert a CF or SD card into the appropriate card slots on the Zaurus and turn the device on. Tap the Q icon in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Settings, and then tap on Backup Restore. On the Backup/Restore screen, tap on Backup, tap on CF (if you want to backup to the CF card) or SD (if you want backup to the SD card), then tap on Start.

2. Backup documents:
This step can be skipped if you do not want to backup your documents on the Zaurus. Place the Zaurus into the docking station with the unit on and open the Qtopia desktop application on the PC. Select the Documents icon on the left side of the screen and then select all the icons of the documents you would like to back up. Click on the Download icon on the tool bar and then specify the directory to store the documents in the Browse for Folder window, then click on OK.

3. Download the Sytem ROM and System ROM update utility:
Download the ospack.srom file and qpe-appROM_1.5.0-1_arm.ipk files (below) and store them in a directory on your PC.

4. Transfer the System ROM and System ROM update utility to the Zaurus:
With the Zaurus unit powered on and docked into the docking station, open the Qtopia desktop application. Select the Documents icon on the left side of the screen and then select the Upload icon on the tool bar. In the Upload dialog Window, select the ospack.srom and qpe-appROM_1.5.0-1_arm.ipk files and then click on Open. The files will now be uploaded to the Zaurus.

5. Install the System ROM Update utility: On the Zaurus unit, tap on the Q button in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Settings, then tap on Add/Remove Software. In the Add/Remove Software window, select Install packages. In the Package Installer window, tap on qpe-appROM. In the Install window, select RAM and then select the OK button. Now tap on the "x" in the top right corner of the Package Installer window, then tap on the "x" in the top right corner of the Add/Remove Software window. You will see a timer while the packages are installing.

6. Update the System ROM:

Notes:
The System ROM file is quite large. Therefore transferring the file and performing the update will take several minutes.

	qpe-appROM_1.5.0-1_arm.ipk File: Download (.ipk 14K) This file is the System ROM Update application used to update the System ROM.
	ospack.srom File: Download (.srom 16.3M) This ospack.srom file contains the System ROM update image.
