Out of this world
Watching me fall - good to have this after the opener. Really kicks in - love the "crying" guitar of perry at the
start. The echo on roberts voice sounds great - more of that. I love the bit when robert sings "and one day."
Until roberts screams "faaaaaallll" - perrys guitar on accompaniment is great. At the end of the song there was
some sort of weird sample playing. Then robert did the tradional "'kew.en hello again."

Want - nice lights at the start. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

Fascination St - again, the lights at the start give you a good jolt.

Open - funny to see roger on guitar - i know hes playing the harmonics - hard to hear it though.

The loudest sound - "another new song". Quite a nice change of pace with this song. Robert sort of wandering
around during the intro.

Like cockatoos- Excellent to hear. Robert on guitar playing the tricky stuff. Excellent drumming - some sounded
quite "triggered", but very good. Robert mentioned the "australian connection" with this song.

Maybe someday  - Fairly standard. Lighting could have been more imaginative.

Shake dog shake - Amazing lights in this - first song where it really kicked in. Bit like parts of in orange - with
just lots of strong white lights. Could really hear that cure flange effect well here - evil.

Edge of the deep green sea -  Perrys solo was good - but it always seems the same - ie same notes. Lots of green
lights. Quite a few hands in the sky (including mine).

In between days - Huge roar for this one - seems most people were hoping for the hits. No break between the 2nd
chorus, and the last "without you" bit - sounded a bit weird - mistake or intentional - hmmmm..

Siamese twins -  "following on with this..a song from the pornography album.." Excellent!!!! Good that they
brought this out instead of prayers for rain. Lots of red lights. Nice vocals.

The Kiss - Definitely a highlight - this was the first time that I thought "wow - this is amazing". Im sure all the
wah-wah bores a lot of people, but for me its very expressive. The start seemed to go for ages, which I was happy
about. That amazing flange effect on roberts guitar near the end. Great lights.

One hundred years - Didn't get into this as much as I thought.

End - I thought this was actually pretty damm good! Heard so many negative reviews of this, but tonight was
really kicked. Such an evil song - love it. The image was this swirling sort of fingerprint pattern. Robert played
the high strum to low thing after the 2nd verse. "she stopped loving me - I was none  of those things" - with the
"me" bit song an octave higher - nice.

39 - Like one hundred years.

Bloodflowers - Most excellent. A big red flower as the image. Lots of white light. Roberts vocal really excelled
here - quite emotional. The third time sang "this world" - he sang those two words slightly differently, which had
quite an amazing ethereal effect - beautiful.

There is no if - I had imagined robert sitting down triggering stuff - it was the whole band. Robert on 12 string.

Trust - Amazing start - with two bright lights coming from behind rogers keyboard and that was it (think it was
this song anyway!). Quite a few lighters in the air.

Plainsong - none of that chime intro. Just straight into it. Loved the lighting - looked like sparklers going off. And
then one single strong purple light behind jason - great colour. Robert did the tour thing to lots of screams. It
sounded like both perry and simon were playing the same notes, just different instruments.

Disintegration - quite good. Maybe not as emotional as ive heard before. There is this video from germany circa
1990 - and the flickering red and blue lights were brilliant. Plus a strobe on robert as he did a huge
"alwaaaaaaaaaays ends!" - spine tingling.

All cats are grey - nice to hear this one. Quite "tasteful" lighting I thought (though so was the rest mostly!).
Sounded a bit like roger stuffed up the keyboard at the end - not sure. Roger and perry on keyboards.

The drowning man - lovely image of shimmering water in the backdrop. Excellent stuff. Perry back to guitar.

Faith - a good version as always. Really appreciated robert improvising on the beautiful sounding 6 string bass.
Not such a long "added chorus" bit. Great drumming at the end.

M - "our shortest title". Quite good - certainly helps to have a slightly upbeat song at the start of an encore -
makes you appreciate the dark stuff more.

Play for today - watched robert play those nice harmonics on his guitar - could see him sort of wipe his left hand in
between them. No real joining in on the keyboard sound here - not that I could hear from back in the sticks anyway.

Just like heaven - huge roar for this. Lots of dancing. Very bright pink lights. Lots of singing the lyrics.

A forest - yes! Always good live. I just wish they would do the wish versions though - an amazing way to end - oh
well, curfew en all. Green lights. Oddly, robert and roger were out at the very beginning - sounded like roger played
a key a bit early - its not that hard is it?! A little bit of robert jamming - obviously they've turned the flange effect
right down these days. Simon went nuts at the end as usual. Then a fairly quick goodbye - obviously he realises
we'll all be back again tomorrow night

Other stuff - thought the volume was a bit low - It could have been a lot louder.
Mix - great on the drums and bass. At times roberts guitar a bit hard to hear, and mainly the keyboards were a bit
low - eg couldn't really hear the new keyboard lines in trust. Being almost at the back, near the
centre, but well above everything probably influenced the sound and my enjoyment - tomorrow night on the other
hand.

we also saw the cure in camden, new jersey, usa, on june 18th, but we were very far back.  we thought that this
show had the better setlist [except we missed boys don't cry and killing an arab on this one...] but we can't
really compare it otherwise since we were so far back and so close for this one.

we camped out for tickets and got 3rd row seats, but the first 3 rows were allowed to stand up and move to the
fence, so we were *right* in the front, up against the fence. we were directly across from perry and simon.  when
robert walked around, we were probably about 5 feet from him at some points. he is such a cutie... he looks like a
cuddly teddy bear.

the whole thing was just so great.  the band talked to each other a lot [not in the mic or anything] and used
gestures, even during songs, about who should be turned up or down or whatever, and sometimes before they'd
start songs they'd face each other and count together.  robert was gesturing a lot, to go along with lyrics, and
during 39, he was making little fire gestures with his arms. he was full of smiles and looked like he was
enjoying himself.

he seemed to be really concentrating on his guitar playing. At one point, during Plainsong, while robert had a long
break from singing, he'd just walk around.  he came over to our side and i put my arms up and yelled and he
looked at me and smiled. :D  i, along with some others, yelled “thank you!” up to him a few times.  i think he
looked directly at me 1 or 2 more times after that too.

it was funny, cause robert would just walk around with his arms folded, and just stand there in front of the crowd,
looking like a real god and getting this overwhelming response.  but he just seemed so calm.  he didn't have to
encourage cheering or excitement or anything.  he just stood there casually letting everyone soak up his
gloriousness. :)

he didn't say too much.  "thank you" quite a bit, and before "like cockatoos" he said something to the effect of,
"this song is kind of related to australia."  a few times he introduced the songs by name.  just before "M", he
said, "our shortest song title..."

during "a forest" i noticed that simon was either counting to himself, or he was saying the fret numbers over and
over... like, "3rd fret, 5th fret, 9th fret, 3rd fret, 5th fret, 9th fret, etc." so that he could stay in time.
maybe everyone’s clapping along threw him off sometimes… just a guess.

overall, i thoroughly enjoyed it.  i was so thrilled to be so close to the band and be able to see everything so
clearly.  i wish it was possible for everyone to get that chance.  but i highly recommend camping out for tickets…
it is definitely worth it.

The concert was brilliant. I am so glad they finally returned to Australia - it has been a long wait! Thank you,
thank you, thank you Robert! I've been listening to the Cure for 18 years now, so I am grateful they returned.
I'm going again tomorrow night. I spotted someone after the show playing back the concert on their camcorder,
so l guess it'll be on the net by tomorrow.

I've never seen Robert look so relaxed - he was smiling alot, but without looking as though he felt compelled to
put on a 'performance' (as he appeared to feel in some parts of Show, during the 'crowd-pleasing singles' section,
where I feel he looked a little like someone grimacing through a routine). The band seemed to be having more
fun than they did when I saw them on the Wish tour. Robert did make a few concessions by smiling for photos and
stopping to get closer to the crowd during songs such as PlainSong. He walked to the edges of the stage, with his
hand to his chin or to the silver chain and black necklace around his neck. He elicited screams and squeals at one
point when he simply smiled and opened his arms out. I noticed that he was making gestures with his face and
hands during Fascination Street, Plain Song, the Loudest Sound and other songs, moving his eyes skyward on
"snow" and generally acting out the words so to speak. I thought he was enjoying himself and really getting into it
(or maybe that's just what I'd like to think, but I'll happily stick to my self-delusion).

I felt lucky to hear Faith, since it's important to Robert and it sounded really good. I loved hearing Open, End,
The Kiss, Fascination St, Plain Song and Edge of the Deep Green Sea - they're so good live (funny how the crowd
was roused by End, despite the anti-adulation lyrics...). All the Bloodflowers material was fantastic and it was
great to hear the atmospheric side of the Cure at length with all the Pornography/Disintegration/Bloodflowers
songs (although everyone was up and dancing for Just Like Heaven - I know the 'purists' don't like the pop songs
but it is a gorgeous, jewel-coloured song). They really built the mood over the 3hrs.

The Sydney Entertainment Centre is souless though and it was a bit odd seeing so many people remain seated for
so long - I wasn't sure if they were all entranced or were dumbfounded by the absence of some of the better-selling
songs. I think the fact that nearly everyone stayed for the third encore indicated that it was the former situation,
combined with the venue itself. It was wonderful and I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. I wasn't sure about the
mix at times and Perry seemed to be having problems but it was a great concert.
