The day started off good...we arrived early to the venu...which was tiny & perfect...and we got to see the band
make their way off the bus and down to the stage area where there was this little building that had been filled with
food and beer (lots of beer)...we even watched a cake being brought in...no doubt for Simon's b-day!)
We made our way into the venu and perched ourselves right in front, between roger & robert-a perfect spot.

Loved the show...everything to me was perfect...as if it could be anything else. The crowd around me was fine...(the
guy with the Happy B-day Simon sign was right behind me) and the set was great as usual. I love hearing the start
of the show...Out of this World & Watching Me Fall...and then knowing that the band is warmed up and ready to go
for a good 2 1/2 hours. One after another the songs just keep coming at you...100 years, 39, End, Faith, loodflowers,
Plainsong etc...
Before each show i have been tired and wonder how am i going to make it through another night of getting home
late only to do it all over again...as soon as the band take the stage i am good to go and don't want them to ever
stop playing...i get this rush of energy and never want the night to end. It seems like the show is just passing by so
quickly and then the first encore comes and you know the end is now near:(
Loved being there for Robert's Happy Birthday song to Simon...so sweet and seemed to make it even more odd to
see Lol on Roger's side of the stage just standing there watching the band play...wonder what he was thinking?

One more show left for us and then it is really over

Hi: I was backstage at the show in San Diego and had the opportunity to meet the whole band, take pictures, get
autographs, and it was sooo fabulous!  It was probably the best experience of my life.  They were all so wonderful,
down to earth, and very gracious.  I gave Simon two birthday kisses (on the cheek), and then he told me, "I like to
ride bicycles." I love him!  He's too great for words!...he also gave me a piece of his Trident...  I think that Robert
was feeling weary though.  He was *very* stoic.  He just stood there with his hands clasped, and didn't really move
a muscle.  I got the feeling he felt like a piece of merchandise or a head of cattle, being scurried about by lots of
people.  He's shy, but so down to earth...he seemed very emotional too-his heart forever on his sleeve. I kissed
him on the cheek, and told him,  "I love you, Thank you Robert."  After getting a pic and autograph.  We were
so rushed, that I didn't get a chance to really talk with him.  The experience was incredible though, so incredible in
fact that I feel absolutely depressed because everyday life is very mundane after that happened.  I feel like I
should be hanging out with them and I'm not, weird...
I also thought you'd like to know a few funny things that happened too: Before Robert came out for soundcheck
the rest of the band warmed up by playing the theme song from 'Shaft'!!! Oh, how great was that???!  During the
soundcheck Robert said "Ahh, I hope you aren't the only ones to show up...If you are, were through!"  My friend
Danny was so excited to get his pic with Robert and meet him that he forgot to get our camera back from the lady
taking pictures...she handed it to Robert as he turned around with a huge grin on his face, he handed it back to
us...He looked like a little kid-too cute! (in a teddy-bear way).
I read the reviews from this show, and it's true: The audience was so not enthusiastic! I could not believe it.  In my
section, only a *few* of us were dancing, much less standing up!  We did sing Happy Birthday with Robert to Simon
though...and the show was incredible.

During an interview he did that night with our local station, 91X, Robert mentioned that he was feeling like he was
"loosing it, a bit'" (or something to that degree).  I feel for him, as I can only imagine that he must be lonely on
tour, missing Mary, always on the go, ect.  He's a very wonderful person though, and I wish I could express to him
in some way how much he has been a part of my life, how I appreciate him so, and how much it means when
someone shares his soul and life in the way that he does.

Hello everyone!!!!
I went to all shows here in southern CA! But the best was when My friend won Sound check party and meet the
band passes from 91X radio station from San Diego!!!

It was the best!!! We got to see the sound check. He did friday Im in love, Out of this world, Last day of summer,
and Love song. He spoke to us from stage....He said "Hi" and then he said "he would be afraid when the fans
start to leave" and he laughed.

Then they escorted us to the back of the stage where we waited to meet the band. First Perry and Roger, came
out, then Jason and simon, and Finally Robert!!!!!

He was so nice, he took pictures with all of us!!!

Review by Emily Dominguez

Just wanted to share some thoughts.  Last night was my last show...for a couple of weeks.  I'm making it a point to
go to Jones Beach since it will be the last one in the States.

Anyhow, as everyone has said, the shows were amazing.  In the 4 nights I experienced, the setlists were so varied
that there is just now way to express my happiness.  Some of the highlights were The Figurehead, Shiver and
Shake and M at the first LA show; Where the Birds Always Sing, The Snakepit, The Kiss, Siamese Twins, Like
Cockatoos and All Cats from the second LA show; and of course hearing the Happy Birthday to Simon last nite
at San Diego.  Unfortunately, like some of the others who have sent in reviews, I found that the crowds were
disappointing.  It was obvious a lot of people were there for the singles and didn't really appreciate the fantastic
performances and obscure tracks they were hearing.  (An example of this would be the girls next to me last night in
San Diego who complained ALL NIGHT about "When is he going to do Just Like Heaven? When is he going to do
Just Like Heaven?" and then when they didn't do it they started with the "OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe they
didn't do Just Like Heaven")  Another thing that bugged me especially was that during every single performance
of Faith that I was lucky enough to witness, everyone around me immediately sat down. I realize that it may not be
everyone's favorite, but that song is so powerful and it frustrated the hell out of me that people didn't seem to get it.

One thing I must share, I had an awesome experience at Irvine.  I was in the pit and managed to give a gift to Perry
which he thanked me for very graciously.  I also was able to give Robert flowers and I had taken a sign with me.
When I saw him coming over to us during Plainsong, I opened it up and he stopped and took the time to read it.
Now, I know how much it meant to me that he read it, but when he did, he put his hand to his chest and got this look
in his eyes and it was obvious that he was genuinely touched.  He then knelt down in front of me and I handed him
my program.  He took it from me and asked me for a pen but of course I didn't have one.  He looked at me with this
helpless look and told me he didn't have one either.  So we just kept staring at each other for what felt like forever
and suddenly he got this tiny smile in the corner of his mouth and he put my program to his lips and gave it a big,
sloppy kiss.  He handed it back to me and I said "Thank you" with the tears beginning to well up in my eyes. This
all must not have taken more than 20 seconds but it felt like an eternity.  Of course, I am thrilled that I have his lip
prints on my program but it meant so much to me to have been able to say what I wanted to say to him and to see
that he was so honestly touched...well there are no words to describe it.  By the way, my sign said: "Thank You!!!
You will never know what you have given me."

Review by Steve (Unclemoe.com)

It seems a lot of others have covered he highlights, I'll try and cover some stuff that others may have missed or
not mentioned and maybe a few personal notes as well. I was slightly disappointed to get a very similar set list to
the Irvine Meadows show which was exactly the same until the start of the second encore. Especially since they
mixed it up so much at the second greek theatre show that I didn't attend.  Anyway, the best was having 13th row
seats in the center and an excellent view (although I didn't see LOL in the wings like others although I was
looking).

A few Simon notes. During In Between Days when RS sings "Yesterday I got so old..." Roger stepped back from
the keys and gave a funny grin and point at Simon and they both had a laugh as it was Simon's Birthday.  Also, you
may know Simon is a huge mountain biker and simply loves it (even though he passed on my invite to go for a ride
in the San Diego area!).  Anyway, on one of Simon's Amps he has a cut out pic of a mountain biker yet I couldn't
tell if it is him or not. Kinda cool I thought.

For the setlist, we caught a glimpse of it on the sound board on the way to our seats and I only glanced but noticed
they had scheduled the pornography songs as the final encore, COLD, something else I couldn't read and
PORNOGRAPHY. I mentioned it excitingly to the soundboard girl and she said "Don't count on it, they tend to
change at the last minute." My girlfriend asked if she could request "Killing an Arab", jokingly of course, and
the sound girl laughed and said for sure if you catch them on a Saturday Night! but she doubts it tonight  Well, then
they played it, so maybe it worked, but they didn't do the pornography encore as scheduled.

Also a few mentioned the San Diego crowd.  I thought the crowd was great. At least 80% of the crowd was up for
most of it, and being up close I could hear tons of people singing to lots of songs unexpectedly. I lost my voice
so I couldn't sing along, so maybe that's why I heard it so well. I could even hear a good chorus of people singing
for Shake Dog Shake!

Finally, I saw a few others from the Irvine show that I recognized, so HEY to the two very colorful girls with the
lights on their heads, you tow are too cute and another hi to the dead one RS look alike. If you see him you'll
see he is a dead one ringer!  And congrats to the guy up close who got RS to sign a cool mellow painting he made
of RS. They had to pass it through the crowd but RS made a point to get it in his hands. After we went to see what
he signed. Instead of signing his name, he wrote something like "I wonder what am I thinking?"

I also take back what I earlier said that I thought Roger didn't care about playing. From up close he smiles and
grins and has a great time and I now like him. He again made his set list into an airplane but instead of throwing it
into the crowd he handed it to the security and had them pass it to a fan a few rows back that he had built a
camaraderie with during the show.

So I get to travel for business in a few weeks and I'm catching one more show. I'm not saying which because I think
RS reads these and he'll torture me by playing the same set again if I say which show it is. I really want to hear
pornography and how it sound live!

Review by Jennifer

Last night is probably one of the greatest shows I've seen.  I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing The Cure 3
times in the past 9 months, in New York, LA, and now San Diego, my home.  Of all the shows that I have seen
them play, I think that this one was the most emotionally charged, the most beautiful, and the most powerful.  But
for some reason, it did not have an air of finality to it!  So perhaps this isn't the end after all.  Who knows.

We arrived at the venue at about 7pm, spent some time wandering around, catching up with friends, people from
other shows, and just generally being nuisances.  A friend of mine in Paris sent us European Dream Tour Tshirts,
so we completed the collection at the merchandise stand right away.  Which was good, because before the show
even started, they were out of dog tags, programs, and the Bloodflower necklaces!  We did manage to snag
goodies!!

We had standing room only tickets, which was good for milling about, dancing, and enjoying the feel of the night.
The light show was INCREDIBLE from our standpoint.  Especially during 100 Years, Shake Dog Shake, Killing
an Arab and Bloodflowers, but 39 and Plainsong were the BEST!!!!  During 39, the stage appeared bathed in fire:
Orange and red lights, fire backdrop, and fog really added to the song.  During Plainsong, the chimes were
reflected in the light show by "sparklys".  They appeared to be very bright, very small, quickly flashing lights that
appeared to be sparkles!  It was so perfect!

SDSU Open Air holds only 5,000 people, so the view and the sound was great from pretty much anywhere within
the gates.  It really does have a great sound system!  Every chime in Plainsong could be heard, every shake of the
tambourine in Boys Don't Cry...  The band seemed rather wrapped up in the night... emotional, maybe a bit tired.
The crowd was pretty subdued as well.  There wasn't much interaction between the band and the crowd.  That is,
until the last encore, where they were playing off of Three Imaginary Boys.  The crowd seemed a bit put off by the
Happy Birthday to Simon, but everyone near me was screaming along as loud as they could.

A few highlights:
Fascination Street was FULL of power and strength.  Simon seemed to have a very deep relationship with that
bass! :)

Open...  I have to say that I never thought I would see the day Roger played guitar, but he did a GREAT job!!!
*smile*

Sinking is a song I have been dying to hear live for many many years... and to finally see and hear this masterpiece
performed on stage was just incredible.. but not yet the pinnacle of the evening!

Bloodflowers is my favorite track off of the new album, however, it seemed that they played with it a bit.  Robert
appeared quite emotional and a bit choked up even.  It was so very beautiful....  However, I think my opinion is a
bit jaded, having heard them perform this for the very first time live at the HRL taping.

Plainsong was the pinnacle of the evening.  I will now die a very happy woman.  This is my 2nd favorite track off of
Disintegration, and this performance just outdid every dream I ever had of it.  My words cannot do any justice to
the performance.  Robert appeared to be in tears at the beginning of the song, a bit into the intro.  I know that I
cried my heart out in joy...  It was so poignantly beautiful and sweet.  To see Robert moved to that level of emotion
was amazing, and to think that he shared it with all of us... it's a gift that I will never forget.

All Cats are Grey and Faith were just perfect and dreamy as I knew that they would be!!!  I love both of these
songs so much, and it tore at my heartstrings to hear them played.

And of course, Boys Don't Cry, complete with Roger playing the tambourine!!! Right into 10:15 Saturday Night
with Happy Birthday thrown in for Simon. And into Killing an Arab.  I think that the power and energy in Killing an
Arab was hard matched in the other songs, except for Fascination Street. The boys seemed to have a lot more fun
with the older songs, laughing and dancing around.  It was a great way to end the night!

Review by Joel

Well, this was it for me. I finally had great seats about 2 people deep in between Roger and Robert.  A couple of
interesting things to pass on about tonight.  As usual, the band ripped through the main set with great precision and
power. I think it floors the average person who doesn't know all the songs. It almost seems to suck you down until
In Between Days for a bit of a breath, and then back down again. Anyway, from our close vantage point, we noticed
that old Lol was watching most of the show from one of the stage wings. I think we scared him off once when we
waved at him, but he came back later. He was kind of getting into the songs and kept looking out at the audience. I
thought his presence there almost looking wistfully at the audience and the band while they played was very, well,
strange. I guess they are all friends again.  Other observations to pass along. The audience didn't sing Happy
Birthday to Simon. I brought a sign with me that I held up at the beginning of the show and he smiled at it. Then at
the beginning of the 1st encore, I held it up again and people around me clapped and he smiled and said Thank you
in my direction. Then, during the start of the 3rd encore I held it up again, and I think Roger and Robert laughed
about it. So at the very end of 10.15, Robert sang Simon a little Happy Birthday ditty and they all laughed about it.
Ummm...a few more things I guess..I yelled Yeah Roger! when he started playing the guitar for Open and he had a
laugh about that. Perry and Roger were having fun and laughing when they were playing keyboards together.
There also must be an inside joke about the tambourine Roger uses in  Boys Don't Cry (? I think that was it).
Roger walked over to Robert's mic at the end of the song and rattled his tambourine in it, also when he picked it up
at the beginning of the song he kind of looked at it with mock chagrin. When Robert came out for one of the
encores, 2nd I think, he kind of did a fake little banging of Perry's little side keyboard that was kind of funny.
Finally, I noticed during Plainsong Robert held both of his ears and when he stepped up to the mic looked to be
mumbling "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god" to himself, as if to try to hold back some tears. His audience rounds
were not as lengthy, because after that he kind of walked off with his back to the crowd. I think the moment or
something kind of choked him up. He did some more rounds on the other side of the stage during All Cats Are Grey
though. It just amazes me that the band, especially Robert and Simon it seems, are just playing their guts out every
single night that I have seen them, pouring lots of emotion into the playing and the audience...who cares about
setlists really...you can just tell though that this is the end, at least for a while...
And it is the end for me and the Dream Tour as well.

Review by Larrybat1

I just got back home from the show in San Diego. What can I say? It all happens so quickly and then it's over. This
was the eighth time to see the Cure for me and it certainly ranks as just about the best show I have seen. I soaked
in every single moment knowing this would be the last time I would get to see them on this tour (forever?) I saw the
Irvine show and this one. The setlist for these two shows was very similar, which is the only disappointment for me.
I was hoping for a chance to hear a Pornography encore but no luck there. Somehow I feel that the San Diego
crowd was too sleepy for so many emotional songs. I was specifically hoping to hear all the dark Cure classics
instead of the radio hits. I don't feel that this audience responded to the band the way they deserved. Oh, sure
everyone jumped up for the radio songs. Don't go to a Cure show on this tour thinking you're going to get all the
pop hits. This tour is about the Cure at their emotional best and they  are in finer form than they ever have been
Highlights for me were as  follows:
The Loudest Sound - This song sounds absolutely gorgeous live. I prefer it to the album version.
Sinking - Been waiting years to hear this live and it was worth the wait.
100 Years - I was transported out of reality during this song. So powerful!
Bloodflowers - I found myself getting very emotional at this point.
Plainsong - Took me right back to Dodger stadium 1989, Prayer Tour...ahh...the feeling that comes when I hear
those chimes.
Disintegration - A favorite Cure song that always gets to me.
All Cats are Grey - THANK YOU!!! This is the moment I will never forget. I love this song so much and I got to
hear it finally. It sounded amazing.
Faith - extra long version. I feel fortunate to have heard this song 3 times live. Perfect!
Killing an Arab - I think it is appropriate that the last song I hear them perform live is the very first song I heard
by the Cure many years ago.
The entire show was a dream come true. I already miss them. I will always love this band. It's hard to believe that
it all might really be the end this time. Cherish every moment if you are going to any of the shows left. And for
God's sake make some noise for the band even if you have to sit down. They deserve it!

What a way to say good-bye for now...San Diego, where I first saw them for the Prayer Tour & at the Venue where
I wanted to see them play after finding out they played there for the Head Tour...The show wasn't as electric as the
last night in LA, but it was dreamy and exceptional...as they came back on for the 1st encore, the guitar tech still
had Robert's guitar...Robert looked around, through his arms up and jokingly said..."I would love to play a song
for you, but I don't have a guitar"...The happy Birthday to Simon at the end of 10:15 surprised everyone, including
the band...Simon just stared at Robert as if saying that's not how the song goes...but you could see his tender
smile...They were really happy tonight, and they made a lot of jokes...Thank you to the Cure for an exceptional
time...I will always dream till we see them again?...

the 3rd encore brought us boys dont cry, 1015 saturday night (which at the last guitar rift robert broke out with a
happy birthday dear simon!)  then of course killing an arab. all an all a wonderful cure experience and i just wish
