To make a long story short, what stunned me the most about the concert was:

1/how miserable a good song like Want sounded like when being played just after something as epic as Watching
Me Fall. To me it's very relevant of the high quality of the album to come.
2/how different this concert was from all the others I attended (which means since the prayer tour), in that having no
poppish stuff in the setlist built up a permissive context for real & increasing intensity. I hope it says long about the
groups intentions regarding the Dream Tour.
3/strikingly, the new songs are very much up to the old classics and sometimes even better: for example, I'm
already convinced that Fall is even more emotionally intense and dramatic than Disintegration itself. Out of this
World is probably the most beautiful cure song since Big Hand, Maybe Someday is just excellent, 39 was to me
very relevant of Robert's musical and creative conserved aptitudes, and Bloodflowers is encouragingly looking
towards Pornography at it's best (please vote for Siamese Twins on the official website, thanks in advance!!!). To
me, Last Day of Summer felt a little trivial among the new songs they played at that show.

I only have 1critic about the new stuff, but it's a strong one:
I absolutely hate the near siliness of the lyrics, which on songs as musically creative than 39 are really a pitty. It
seems too much of an obvious reason saying Robert wrote those lyrics intentionnally...It's not such a big deal
afterall, we stil have the music...and Watching Me Fall (see, it's not that difficult to make some rimes (only
kidding)).

General comments: As compared to the Brussels show, which was a really great show, yesterday's concert honestly
impressed us, it was much more intense and powerful. The band was on ultra-top form. Robert and Simon, who
seemed a bit of tired in Brussels to my opinion, looked totally involved and knowing. The gig took place at the top
of the Arche de la Défense. It was an indoor gig, however. The place was huge but I don't think that there were
more than 400 people. You had to take some kind of funny elevator made up of glass and when going up, you could see Paris by night, the Arc de Triomphe and it's millennium wheel. A wonderful panorama. Once upstairs (118m),
you entered in a huge room and you could immediately see the stage. I managed to get the third line and everybody
was actually very close to the stage. The show was supposed to begin at 8:30, but the lights went out at 8:45... for
only a few seconds, since they came back on immediately! Then people started to shout together. Five minutes
later, the show began...

Before adding my personal comments, I really want to blame the FNAC stores, which organized the gig. First,
because we could not keep our ticket. They forced us to give our invitations to the security agents, which is really
stupid. Second, and that is the worst of all, because they hired many security agents to hunt (I choose my words)
photographs during the concert. The invitation did not mention that it was forbidden to take pictures. Although it
seemed obvious that you cannot not take pictures during the show (whatever the show), I really have to say that the
security agents totally terrorized us, they were violent when catching the 'murderers' with a camera. They simply
spoiled the gig by rushing (I said RUSHING) at us. It's hard to believe, but according to me, security agents should
be paid to protect us, the fans. If other fans had problems yesterday, they can e-mail me (bporret@club-internet.fr)
since I intend to register a complaint.

Anyway, I've already commented the songs from the brussels show, here are a few extra comments very specific to
the Paris show:
Watching me Fall: much more powerful, Perry's guitar was loud enough. That song is simply incredible!
Want: I already mentioned the fact that the version they performed in Brussels was one of the best ever, which was
true until yesterday!
The Last Day of Summer: Again, sorry for insisting, but something's really missing during the chorus. Robert
actually plays a few notes that sound great with Roger's keyboard part, but FULL chords would really sound better.
Honestly, the song could really be incredible if the chorus was not so empty on stage. Moreover, Robert seemed to
have forgot his second solo part and improvised something else.
Maybe Someday: It was not as slow as it was in Brussels, and it was played differently. The song began with two
guitars, while in Brussels it started with chords, and then the first solo guitar. Great version, too, that sounded like
the album version!
If only tonight we could sleep: Again, that song is really impressive. I just can't explain why, but it is!
39: while the audience received this song coldly in Brussels, it totally hypnotized the audience yesterday.
Prayers for Rain: still no "raaaaaaain", and too much flange on Perry's guitar to my opinion.
100 Years: the drum box is still very efficient during the song. I just have to say that RED lights would be
appreciated for the next shows!
Bloodflowers: still no keyboard at the beginning. The drum+bass was so low that Robert really seemed to think
about the tonality. I still expect the beginning of 'Bloodflowers' to sound like 'Closedown'. Again, this is very
personal. But you can believe me, the rest of the song is simply incredible.
A Forest: The version they played was slightly longer than in Brussels (maybe one minute).
Disintegration: Robert's voice was perfect. Until the end this time. No comment.

Again, my comments are very personal. Yesterday's gig was one of the best ever, according to my opinion. The setlist is very efficient and powerful. I'm still there...

Also, They gave out nice brochures yesterday about The Cure, with a full discography and review of all studio
albums, as well as reviews of albums influenced by The Cure.

A first taste.
Dealing with their past, The Cure's looking back for their soul. The mood is quite serious, black is the color they all
wear. You want blood, You got it Figurehead, 100 years, Bloodflowers.
Distorsion, high-lights, smoke, hard-stuff please welcome Prayers for rain,Watching me fall and 39.
Robert Vs Robert and everybody's watching. Everybody's singing: Fascination street, From the edge Forest.
Pornography on the top of the Arche, like a stone cold starship for a celebration.
We celebrate the (last?) return of Robert's Vision of Hell. Splendid Day of Summer and far-away-trip in a "deep
black water". Did we get prepare to that? Did we think we could really know this again one day?
I think it's just a whispering of a forcoming dream
we used to feel the fire.

Excellent show. Excellent setlist (even if it was not too different from the previous gigs). I was really seduced by the
live renditions of Bloodflowers songs like Last Day Of Summer or Out of This World. Older songs were well
treated, apparently well rehearsed. Roger had a few technical problems but he played OK.
Simon did a very short A Forest ending. The first songs of the show were filmed by three cameras.
I look forward to the forthcoming shows (2 shows in Paris !).
