hamburg had been an overwhelming concert, so it was  hard to belive that bruessel could get any better: but  it did.

this wasn't really because the cure played  very  differently, but mainly for there reasons:

1.there was a lightshow in brussels
2.people were much more enthusiastic and there was a  really good atmoshphere
3.and this was crucial:the sound in brussels was  much  better than in hamburg.

though in my opinion, the drums still sounded a bit  too sharp in brussels, you couldn't really complain  about the
sound, and therefore the songs were much  more powerful and convincing.

and what I really liked was that when they played disintegration, robert started singing and then stopped after the
first few words, turned around and  talked with roger for a really long time. I think they were talking about the
breaking glass sound which  the  keyboard for some reason didn't make.(or maybe they  just told a joke?).then
robert turned to the audience  again and played something similar to the breaking glass sound on his guitar, which
sounded really good and I was just very impressed by this improvisation.

so:this was an indescribable good concert with a really good mood in the audience and a very  impressive
bloodflowers.I'm thoroughly happy!

To begin with, here are my general impressions. First, the sound. I have to say that I'm fed up with the bad balance in the last Cure gigs I went to. Perry's guitar always too low. On many songs yesterday, moreover, Roger's keyboard was almost absent, you just could not hear it and then, in the middle of a song, it was very loud. A few songs were 'good' while they could have been actually great, just because of these problems. Second, the general mood: I had the feeling that Robert and Simon were a bit of tired, BUT very happy to be on stage again ("it's fantastic to be back again"). On the other hand, I had rarely seen Roger so enthusiastic, shaking his head, often closing his eyes when playing, as if he was totally implied in what he played. He was totally great. Last point, and I really wanted to say that, Jason's brillant work on the album was obvious on stage. I heard so many people saying horrible things... There's no reason to compare him with any of the previous drummers. He's got his own style. Just like Boris had. Jason did a great job yesterday, and whether you like him or not, you have to admit it. End of the discussion... As regards Perry, I also wanted to say that despite his apparent peacefulness on stage, you can really see how happy he is to be on stage. His sincerity is so obvious. It's a pleasure to look at him during the gig. As a whole, the new songs sound great on stage. The "real" tour is really, really promising...

Out of this world: I was very impressed by this song. Actually I had doubts about it as a set starter, but I was wrong. It was perfect to start the show. Robert's guitar and Rogers' keyboard were totally brillant, the song was played carefully. Really impressive. Plus Jason used brushes on that song. They reached pure quality on that song.

Watching me fall: Phew. Again, very impressive. Robert used an acoustic guitar and Perry did the noisy part. There are so many saturations and noises in the album version, I was really impressed Perry who managed to produce that quality with one single electric guitar! But please, ask the sound engineer to increase the volume of Perry's guitar! As regards the voice, there was no "watching me faaaaaaallllll" but it was a great version, as long as the album version. As a second song in the set, just like in the album, the crowd became totally wild at the very beginning of the gig.

Want: a brillant version again, especially as regards Robert's voice. You could see to which extent he loved this song. Very good, one of the best song of the show to my opinion, even better than when they played it in 1996.

Fascination street: No comment. Sounded like in 1989's gigs. Robert's still a good dancer!

Last Day of summer: one of my favs on Bloodflowers. Unfortunately, something's missing in the chorus. I think Robert never played his guitar part. On "The last day of summer never felt so cold..." you could just hear Roger's keyboard and Simon's bass, but no guitar chord. Something was definitely missing and I did not really like this version. Let's hope they'll add a few guitar chords in the chorus for the next shows.

Maybe someday: much slower than the album version. This is not negative, however. It was different, simply. And brillant. Unfortunately, the third guitar on the album is absent on stage. Roger's solo part was great. He used his elbow to press all keys at the same time and he looked so wild! A kind of Ray Manzarek from The Doors (but with short hair!)

>From the edge of the deep green sea: VERY powerful. Nothing special to say. Robert's voice became really brillant again. AGAIN, Perry's wonderful solo part was too low. And some noisy saturation would be appreciated at this moment of the song!

If only tonight we could sleep: One of the best song yesterday, to my opinion. Everything was perfect. Robert's job on the guitar (especially the saturated part) was unbelievable and powerful. Roger's work was impressive. Honestly. As crystal-clear as something that would have been recorded in a studio. The perfection.

39: I'd say too slow. But Robert's sincerity with the words of the song was obvious and really touching.

Prayers for rain: no "raaaaaaiiiiiiin" but a great version. There's something new in the keyboard part. A strange "falling" noise at the end of the chorus. The effect was very convincing. Good job, Roger!

100 years: same version as the one they used to perform in 1998, with the drum box. No comment. One of the best songs of the gig. Just like the old days... :)

Bloodflowers: I really waited this moment. I was not disappointed! However, you could not hear Roger's keyboard at the beginning (on the drum+bass part) and Robert did not play guitar on the chorus parts (I mean each time the tempo changes). The song was great but I'm sure it can be INCREDIBLE.

A Strange Day: first I would say it sounded like Charlotte Sometimes. It was a pop version that we had. Not an emotional version (to my opinion).

A forest: very short version (6 minutes), Robert playing guitar very soon while Roger was still playing the intro. Almost no guitar solo and only a few bass notes at the end. This version sounded like the original version on the 17 seconds album.

Figurehead: splendid drums+bass, much emotion, a very good version of an incredible song. Not as good as the version played during the Wish tour, however.

Disintegration: I was really glad to hear this version again, I mean an electric, loud and powerful version that reminded me of the Prayer tour, Robert screaming again. I was only disappointed by the "I never say I would stay to the end..." part, since he stopped screaming. Something happened at the beginning. I think Roger was prepared for the long version, while Robert started to sing very soon, prepared for the short version. Anyway, the Magic of the Prayer Tour was in that song.

To conclude, I'd say that the gig was very good and I can't wait for the official Dream Tour. The setlist was ideal: long songs, some kind of concept on stage. As regards the voice, it is obvious that Robert seemed somewhat lazy yesterday, but it's only a promotional show. As regards the music, Robert seems to be reconciled with his own guitar scores. No obvious improvisations, just what he seemed to have worked carefully before the beginning of the tour. I may offend people, but I'd say he's a musician again. I was so terrified by the 98 gigs... To my opinion, the Dream Tour should be an excellent vintage! But please, I want to hear Perry's guitar!

I was lucky to win 2 tickets for the concert. It was the 18th concert from the cure and I was glad that it was a concert without all the happy singles (Why can't I be you etc...) because the group has enough other songs to play. The show was good, the same as Hamburg but the setlist from Hamburg was good so why would they change it. It is true that Out Of This World is not as strong to open a show as Want, Open, Plainsong or The Kiss but with a nice intro on tape it could be perfect for the Dreamtour. I heard Out Of This World a couple of times on Studio Brussel and I thought it would never be my favorite song but after hearing and seeing it live it is a real good song. Apart from the new songs I heard and saw all the other ones before but this time it was something else. It was not the big lightshow and the sound was perfect on the groundfloor (I saw once The Sisters Of Mercy and I was on the second level close to the stage and it had a real poor sound). The last show I saw was in Köln 1998 at the festival and the sound was not that good but that will always be one of the weak points on festivals. Before the second encore the audience was 'singing' the la la la from Play For Today as it is on the Paris album but Robert smiled and said something to Roger and they played Figurehead. The show was filmed for Canal+, it would be broadcasted later this year a cameraman told me. I found it a nice concert, I can't wait to see them back this year. Did someone understood what Robert said at the end of the show, it was something like see you.... but the rest I couldn't hear.

We just got back from the Brussels promo show about an hour ago. Our ears are still ringing, heads still swimming!
We caught the show from the balcony; so strange being able to see the audience move and sway to the music
throughout the concert. We had only heard "Maybe Someday" before this concert, so all the new songs were new
experiences.  No familiarity, no known emotions, instead a dive into raw experience.  Probably a bit similar for
people a little less than twenty years ago.

Robert seemed to be really strong and happy during the whole concert.  A big change from the Swing Tour.
At the beginning of the concert he slowly looked around the balconies, giving each side a look.  We are not sure
whether he was trying to see how many people were there, or maybe giving everyone a look, making a contact with
them, an "I see you". At the concert, it felt like there were no strangers.  That everyone had been a Cure fan for
years (close to the truth, perhaps).

The first two songs were amazing.  Out of this world didn't open the show the way Plainsong or Want would, there
was no building up of atmosphere.  We didn't enjoy this one as much, perhaps due to missing the lyrics (?), but it
was a taste of what was to come. Then "Watching me Fall"  broke the ice, suddenly there was a soul screaming out,
smashing and blowing things up. The rest of the songs flowed into one another with no obvious breaks.

The night was one of new experiences, of where we are now. During "A Forest", everyone was as one body,
dancing, joining in the most weird, surreal way. Most of the audience was concentrating on the songs during the
show. Absorbing the feeling, holding onto it, embracing it.  Only when these older songs came out did people start
reacting.

For the encore Robert came back and did his rendition of the "La-la-la" from "Play For Today", mocking the
audience a bit.  Still, he seemed to have enjoyed the crowd's singing. The show finished with Disintegration, during
which there seemed to be smiling and talking between Roger and Robert.  That's what we remember from this
show, a feeling of smiles, (despite the gloomy set list, or maybe because of it!)

The show ended, but no one went home straight away.  Everyone stood around talking, then drinking beer and
talking more.

Just back from the brussels show.  exact same set as in hamburg, 110 minute long, almost no break in between the
encores.  highlights (as usual highly subjective): watching me fall, from the edge of the deep green sea (ahh,
memories) and one hundred years. also the last day of summer and if only tonight we could sleep... unfortunately,
the drums' level was way too loud for bloodflowers, which made the other instruments barely audible.  the crowd
started singing play for today before the second encore, which made the band laugh when they came back on stage
but they nonetheless played the figurehead!  robert had to start singing twice for disintegration, something he
seemed to blame on roger, for some reason.  another brilliant show - paris' next!

A very good concert. The guys played very well. Robert just started singing the first words of Disintegration a little
too early and had to stop and start again, but that was nothing.Tonight was special. Before the concert tickets were
sold higher and higher, and at a moment it felt like Wall Street. In fact when everybody got inside tickets price went
lower and lower. But let's get to the show. Robert was very confortable. I think they played exactly the same songs
that in Hamburg. The new songs are very good. And the sound is very powerful. Despite previous reviews i've read,
"Watching me fall" was to me the best one. As this was one of promo shows, the lightning stuff wasn't spectacular,
but we will get that at the Dream Tour anyway. After the first encore ( A Strange Day and A Forest), the crowd
start to  sing the "laaaa...la...la" of "Play for Today" but the band got on stage and Robert laughed and played
"The Figurhead" instead. The songlist just cut all previous pop stuff, and that really makes you feel like watching
the Cure, even thought i love the entire discography. The whole show was good and people were very warm.
This is the 6th time i saw the Cure live. Hopefully i'll get to see them for the "13th" time (?).
