  • You might want to forget about buying those one day tickets to Roskilde:
  • "I just bought my roskilde ticket and the lady at the ticket office told me that those one day tickets for sunday are available at the entrance only if the festival isn't sold out. It was sold out last year so I wouldn't recommend to depend on that it won't be this year. So buy your tickets in advance! "

    (Thanks Antti and Jacob)

  • The official Depeche Mode website has put up the interview that Dave Gahan did with WLIR on April 12th, in which he mentions The Cure working on the new album. Here's the transcript of it:
  • Andre (DJ): Do they still put you guys in the same classification now as The Cure or are you hearing less of that now? Because you guys have been compared sometimes.

Dave Gahan: Well I think that's good company. I've always liked The Cure and I know they're making a new record right now, so that's cool. And actually, our friend Daryl who used to work for us, he works for The Cure now and we still stay in touch.

  • Cure covers:
  • "I'm the producer of "Prayers for Disintegration" - Polish tribute album to The Cure. This album will be available May 7th, 2001. There are few on-line shops which will sell it, too. So.. if anybody is interested: please feel free to contact me fozzie@interia.pl or (maybe even better) directly "Black Flames Records" blackf@poczta.onet.pl for details. "

    (Thanks Tomasz)

"I was at a small show in Houston and one of the bands on the bill, called "Stone Forest" performed a rather decent cover of "Lovesong." The vocalist screwed up some of the lyrics, but they had a stand up base and beautiful reverb on the lead guitar, so it was pretty cool, nonetheless."

    (Thanks Garret)

  • Curespotting:
  • "oh what do u know..i was watching the ever so fabulous gilmour girls on the wb and again there was another cure reference...the two girls were taking about how gloomy they were and they went on to say joy divsion gloomy....and then... or robert smith gloomy...yeahhh! i totallly luv it! they have to have some people who luv robert because thats the second time they have mentioned the cure.what r the odds of that happening?.. everyone must watch this show.......:) "

    (Thanks Madani2)

"I have an unusual Cure spotting. Yesterday, KPCC, National Public Radio for Los Angeles, 89.7 FM, had a report on the American millionaire who will be journeying to space with Russia. For the intro to the story they played, of all things, a selection of The Top from the Top album. I must admit, I'm not one to fall into a trance everytime I hear the Cure played in public places, however, to hear The Top instead of a Cure single played did make my day."

    (Thanks Juan, Patrick and Joe)

"On 14 April 2001 at the MCI Center in Washington, DC, during a Capitals/Penguins playoff game, I heard an instrumental version of "More Than This" during a between-periods video about one of the players (Sergei Gonchar)."

    (Thanks Joe)

    (Thanks Klaus)

  • The debut album from Professional Murder Music, which will include their cover of A Night Like This, will be released on May 22nd.
  • (Thanks Stephan)

  • Curiosity needs some help:
  • "We don't know the name of the persons who have recorded our show in Sopot Poland on the Cure's party 21st april. So if you have recorded it on Mini Disc or by Camrecorder (video) you can mail me at : vincent.crepin@swing.be

Thank you very much, Vincent From CURIOSITY"

  • The Cure in a school magazine? :
  • "I really don't think this is important, but there will be an article about THE CURE in the shool magazine of our school in Eschweiler Germany. There will be a report about old and cult musicbands in every magazine every month. the Cure is the first band that will be in there. For all people which live in Eschweiler should come to the Liebfrauenschule and buy one."

    (Thanks Martin)

  • Curespotting:
  • "UK chat/music programme 'the priory' has a band on every week that plays a short clip of music after every advert break before playing their latest single at the end. Today they had Air on the show who played the intros to 'in your house' and 'a forest'. It is well known that 'seventeen seconds' is one of their favourite albums."

    (Thanks Nige, Chris and IrishCure)

    April 24th

  • Happy Birthday and best wishes to Boris Williams. Cheers!

  • Q Online also has a story about the Roskilde show:
  • Cure Play Roskilde

The Cure are to play their only date of 2001 by headlining one night at this year’s Roskilde Festival. The band were to have performed at last year’s event, but pulled out following the disaster that saw nine people killed during Pearl Jam’s set. To make up for the cancellation, Robert Smith and co are to headline the Sunday night, 1 July. The announcement comes despite Smith’s assertion last year that the Bloodflowers album and accompanying Dream Tour would be the group’s last. Reports indicate that the group are to begin demoing new material next month.

    (Thanks Steven)

  • Wondering who in the hell Delroy Facey is and what he gave Robert for his b-day? Here's the answer:
  • "In case people are wondering about the Delroy Facey comment from Robert on the official site, he is a soccer player for Huddersfield Town who scored a very late goal (4 mins into extra time) against Robert's beloved QPR to relegate them into the English Second Division."

    (Thanks Keith)

    Thank you."

    (Thanks Radek and good luck)

  • Curespotting :
  • "in the most unexpected of places. i was watching rumble in the bronx with jackie chan and in the one scene where there is a huge accident that starts out the whole diamonds thing. anyway, if you watch in the background of this scene, there is a wish or show-era promo poster on the wall. just in case you want to check it out."

    (Thanks Andrew)

"Yesterday i watched the movie "flatliners", and right after the beginning there was a "boys don't cry" poster on the wall.

Also, Ifound a review for the album "lookbook" by "slut", in which the cure is named twice: "Mineral" sounds like Robert Smith had visited them in studio and played a bit with the band. [...] The album ends with "Hope", which again reminds very much of The Cure. the original (german) review can be found at http://laut.de/lautstark/cd-reviews/s/slut/lookbook/ "

  • The Roskilde Festival have finally made an announcement confirming The Cure's appearance at the festival:
  • ROSKILDE FESTIVAL 23 April 2001

    NEWSLETTER No. 08/01

THE CURE – ONLY AT ROSKILDE

The English band The Cure give their only concert this summer at Roskilde Festival. At present the band is in the studio recording, but when the time for Roskilde draws nearer lead singer Robert Smith and the four other members of the band will take a break from the studio and start rehearsing before they pack their gear and come to Roskilde Festival.

The Cure have wanted to return to Roskilde Festival to give their fans a great concert experience, something that unfortunately was not possible at last year’s festival. The Cure should have played Friday night after Pearl Jam but because of the tragic accident in front of Orange Stage their concert was cancelled.

Although the band had not planned to give any concerts over the summer The Cure return to Roskilde Festival and close Orange Stage Sunday night. Roskilde Festival will then be the only festival to have the pleasure of presenting The Cure this year.

The Cure are very popular with the Roskilde audience who can look forward to a great concert with the characteristic band with its many melodic hits from a long career. All the way back in 1976 the central front man Robert Smith, then only 17 years old, formed his first band. Two years later they had made themselves famous under the name The Cure and since then there has been more than 20 album releases and a number of band member replacements. However, since 1994 the band has had the same line-up.

In terms of genre The Cure set their own standards. In February 2000 they released their twelfth studio album Bloodflowers on which the sound is sinister, melancholic and dreamy, carried through by beautiful guitar melodies and with Robert Smith’s characteristic voice at the front.

Read more about The Cure on their web site.

    Best regards

    ROSKILDE FESTIVAL 2001

    (Thanks Mark)

  • NME and Dotmusic have picked up the story about the festival gig and the new album:
  • N.M.E. :

    THE CURE FIND THE CURE

THE CURE have contradicted rumours they would split following the release of their 'BLOODFLOWERS' album by announcing an appearance at the ROSKILDE FESTIVAL in DENMARK.

In interviews during the promotional activity for 'Bloodflowers' last year, mainman Robert Smith consistently hinted that The Cure would split so he could pursue a solo career.

Speaking about the song 'Maybe Someday' from 'Bloodflowers', he said: "That's the one song on the album about ending The Cure...as soon as the others heard that one, their faces dropped. This is our swansong. I wanted one on there that said it.

"I've been doing this with The Cure for the whole of my adult life and I want to try something different. It's a way of letting go. It's actually defined my life, being in The Cure. It's the first time in years that after we finish this tour, there are no plans to do anything else."

However, the band have now confirmed they are to headline the Roskilde Festival on July 1.

The show will be the band's only festival appearance this summer, although a UK spokesperson for the band told NME.COM they had been in the studio this year working on new material.

    Dotmusic:

    CURE BACK FOR FESTIVAL

The Cure have announced that they are to appear at this summer's Roskilde festival.

It was believed that the band would split following last year's tour in support of the album 'Bloodflowers', with frontman Robert Smith beginning a solo career.

"I'm not going to be bothered with playing the new album live. I've spent almost 25 years touring. I really want to stay at home more," Smith was quoted as saying at the time.

However, their headline appearance at the Danish festival on July 1st is likely to be the band's only live date of the summer. Guns N' Roses, Neil Young & Crazy Horse and Bob Dylan also play the four-day event, which was marred last year by the death of nine people in a crowd crush.

Reports suggest that The Cure are also working on new material.

    (Thanks Steven)

  • Cure cover:
  • "I was browsing around napster and I found a cover of "Just Like Heaven" by the Colby College Blue Lights. It's pretty interesting (a choir singing for both lyrics and instruments..)."

    (Thanks Jamie)

  • Curespotting:
  • "Today on a known TV program here called "El Aguante", that is all about football fans and football songs, there was a story of a guy fan of Argetinos Juniors (1st division football team) and The Cure.

He traveled to watch some shows of the Dream Tour. His objective was to give RS the shirt of his team, he couldn't get him personally but at least he managed to throw the shirt to Robert and he caught it and kept it. Then the guy could get the video of that show through a German fan and they showed that part of the concert.

    (Thanks Pablo)

"Last night (0 a.m. 24/4), on MTV Italia, "Simply the best" was a good one hour dedicated to Cure's video!"

    (Thanks Stefano)

"Last night on Sky Premier (movie channel available through BSkyB) Richard Jobson hosted a program called Movie Talk. The subject last night was the music video. Among Richard's guests was Tim Pope. The Cure were only mentioned during Tim's introduction and no clips were shown. Tim talked mostly about his work on The Crow: City Of Angels. "

    (Thanks Ian)

  • A very Happy Birthday to Robert Smith. Cheers!

  • Cure on TOTP2 today:
  • "BBC2 will broadcast today Saturday 21st April (Happy Birthday!) TOTP2 at 16.35. The programme is a review of past success and amongst the others (Duran Duran, Fugees, Echo & the Bunnymen, Barbara Streisand!!!) ... The Cure are in there. Also in the webpage http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/lineup/totp2/index.shtml it is possible to read a small biography just by clicking on the name. Seems that many people out there consider the Cure as a retired band!!!"

Update: "Ok I have just seen it: they only showed as opening act "The Lovecats" performed on November 83 and that was it. Better than nothing on Robert's birthday!"

    (Thanks Davide)

  • Cure covers:
  • "Insight a french band made a cover of THE DROWNING MAN in a pub in RENNES (france) here is the link http://www.chez.com/insight2/"

    (Thanks alwaysfade)

"Yet another Cure cover has surfaced in mp3 form. A band called "Zeitmahl" covered "A Forest". It was actually very good, not great but good. Their cover is very 'techno-y' to say the least, but done in a tasteful enough matter to bear listening to more than once. The lead singer (don't know who though) fuddles up some words but it is an all around good cover."

    (Thanks Kelly O.)

"Igot this mail today (originally in german, but translated here):

"Psyche frontman Darrin duetted with Sara Noxx. The song is a cover version of "Falcos "Jeanny Part1". The track will be released on Scanner Records. But yet not enough. Psyche seem to like their role in covering songs and will go into some other projects soon. By now there are plans of doing Rational Youths "City of light" and THE CURES "CHARLOTTE SOMETIMES"."

    (Thanks Hansi)

  • A bit of good news for all of us DVD addicts - I mentioned the DVD Promo Lights Music Video Clip! Hits 5 that came out in Japan a couple of years ago, and now you can order it from Laser Exchange (just do a search for The Cure). The price is a bit much at $48, but if you want it in your collection, that's probably your only option.
  • (Update: As of April 23rd, the DVD is out of stock. But keep checking and they might get more in stock)

Also, there is a VCD of Galore that just came out and you can get one for $20 at AB-CD / $9 at Eureka Movies or $7.50 at AllVCD. This is an official release from Universal in Hong Kong. VCD's will play on just about all DVD players, but ARE NOT of the same quality as a DVD or Laserdisc. Still, I'd rather have it on VCD than videotape. For more info on VCD check out VCDhelper.

    (Thanks Robert and Greg)

    April 19th

  • Despite initially turning it down, the band have changed their mind and have now accepted an offer from the Roskilde festival. They will be closing the festival on July 1st around 10pm. Tickets are on sale now.

  • If you're still looking for Bloodflowers/Dream Tour t-shirts, you might want to check out Star 500.
  • (Thanks Henry)

  • Another Cure party:
  • "There's a The Cure Party at the club SoWhat! in Oslo, Norway April 20... The party organizers promise lots of Cure videos + music and a performance by the Cure cover band "Untitled". "

    (Thanks Toy)

  • Curespotting:
  • "I was looking around on cdnow.com, and when the page came up, it had a small thing near the top of the page saying "What Musical Star was Born this Week... ... Robert Smith of the Cure. Celebrate with Galore, Standing on a Beach -- Singles, and other Cure albums," and next to it was a little picture of Robert."

    (Thanks rODenT, Dominik and Benson)

And this was posted over at Morrissey-Solo.com:

    PantryBoy writes:

I just wanted to let everyone know that Georgia State's college station, 88.5 WRAS Atlanta had Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music in the studio on Saturday. On the subject of Roxy Music's influence over modern bands Ferry stated, "I believe that sort-of sad chap, Morrissey, is a progeny of mine... though I don't think he is nearly as virile."

On another note he later added, "I'm fairly certain that Robert Smith, of the Cure, is a descendant somewhere down the line..."

    April 17th

  • NEW ALBUM NEWS - According to Perry, "we are due to go into a studio in may to start demos for a new album". Obviously, things can change (remember the Nov. & Feb. sessions?), but this time it looks like the sessions will happen.
  • (Thanks Neil)

  • I've set up a New Album Info page to keep track of the news about the album. There isn't much newsworthy there right now, but I've gone back and posted clips from all of the interviews Robert did while in Australia and tried to present a sort of timeline of how all of this has evolved. Hope you find it useful.

  • Still hoping and praying for The Cure on DVD? Well there's still no sign of anything being released, but here's something that you probably don't know about:
  • "I just wanted to tell you there's another DVD related to The Cure besides the two DVDs you've mentioned (MTV Unplugged: Finest Moments and South Park - Vol. 3). Here's its information:

DVD PROMO LIGHTS MUSIC VIDEO CLIP! HITS 5

(includes The Cure's video clip "The 13th", regional code: ALL, June 1997) Pony Canyon PCBP-00021

I'm not sure if it's released only in Japan though... I attached its picture for your information.

(Does anyone have a copy of this or know where to get one? If so, please e-mail me. - Craig)

(Thanks Fusae and sorry it took so long to post)

In addition to Plant, the Strange Sensations feature drummer Clive Deamer (Portishead, Tom Jones), keyboardist John Baggott (Portishead, Massive Attack), bassist Charlie Jones (Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt) and guitarists Justin Adams (Jah Wobble, Sinead O´Connor) and Porl Thompson (The Cure), according to the tour's European promoter."

  • Curespotting:
  • "On a very silly uk comedy show this evening called 'never mind the buzzcocks' the teams were asked to guess which out of 5 look-a-likes was an artist called damian who did a cover of 'the time warp' in 1989. eventually, they narrowed it down to two people. in trying to guess, one of the team said 'that one looks like a cure roadie - big muscles and crap lipstick!!' hardly complimentary, but a reference nonetheless... "

(Good Friday & Friday the 13th - weird combination)

  • Confirmation comes from the most unlikely places:
  • "Dave Gahan (from Depeche Mode) was on 92.7 WLIR live Thursday evening (4/12/01) and during Q & A from fans in their studio regarding comparisons to the Cure, Dave commented about recent contact with Perry Bamonte and the Cure, and that they are working on a NEW ALBUM !!!!!!!"

More info on this in the coming days/weeks.

  • Cure in the Easter charts:
  • "As it is tradition, radio ffn (in Germany) let their listeners select their fave songs and compiles them into a top 750:

    #557 lullaby

    #100 friday I'm in love "

    (Thanks Dennis)

    April 12th

  • I promise, there WILL be important and useful news to report in the coming weeks...unless there isn't, which would be news in itself. : )

  • The official site has been updated, although all I can find is a brief mention of "writing and thinking" on the news page and the addition of a March news archive page. Notice that just like the Jan. archive, this one contains some mysterious words. Part of a new song or are we reading too much into it? Hmm...

  • Get The Cure into the Heavenly 100 :
  • "The dutch radiostation 3FM is putting together a best albums-list called "de hemelse honderd" (heavenly 100). Listeners can cast their votes on their 3 favourite albums. And since I hardly ever hear a cure-song on that station it would be quite nice if they were forced to when the Cure suddenly gets a lot of votes! They will broadcast the results on may 24th. I can't find the closing date anywhere but i think we've got plenty of time left.

Follow the following link to cast votes: http://3fm.omroep.nl/hemelseh.htm

    (Thanks Martijn)

  • A quick review of the Cureheads in NYC:
  • "I saw the Cureheads last Saturday in NYC, and I thought they were amazing!

I've been reading about these guys for a long time on chainofflowers.com. At first, I figured they were just some silly novelty act. I had no interest in hearing a bunch of guys slaughter the most sacred music in the universe. But I kept reading reviews from pessimists like me who claimed that the Cureheads had won them over on the spot, so when they came to my neck of the woods, I thought I might as well give them a chance.

I'm so glad I did! They were so great! What amazes me is that they had trouble with their work visas, NONE of their gear made it overseas, and they still managed to put on a super wonderful show while maintaining a stellar attitude about the whole debacle. Their sound wasn't perfect as a result (the keyboardist was the most disadvantaged; you could barely hear her, prolly cuz a fair amount of her sounds were left behind at the border), but it was clear and precise enough to let my mind wander back to the amazing moments I've spent at various Cure shows over the past 10 or so years. I kept finding myself closing my eyes and drifting through different periods of my life, thinking about things that only the Cure makes me think about, and IT WASN'T EVEN THEM!!! With the proper gear, I imagine they'd fool a LOT of people.

Their setlist covered just about every era of Cure history from 3IB to KMKMKM to Bloodflowers and everything in between. They even tossed in "Chain of Flowers" for the "real hardcore Cure fans" in the audience. A lot of the light effects were drawn from classic Cure designs (green wash during "Forest," strobes during "100 Years," etc.). Tons of smoke, just like a Cure show. Gary, the lead singer, does a DEAD ON Robert; I was surprised to find that even his speaking voice is practically indistinguishable from his hero (well, it was only unlike Robert in the fact that I could actually UNDERSTAND what he was saying). He kept flubbing the words just like Robert does onstage, which made me note to my boyfriend that it was like a "total immersion Cure experience." I don't have a lot of patience for the "suspension of belief" inherent in so many theatrical acts, so I really liked that he didn't pretend to BE Robert, he was just a guy who just happened to look and sound a lot like him who REALLY digs the Cure and likes playing their music. Sean, the bassist, knows all of Simon's posturing and never drops character onstage. Off stage, he's just about the nicest guy you'll ever talk to. I know a lot of people who work at the club where they played, and they all mentioned how great the band was to work with. Just super, super nice blokes. ;)

So all I can say to you skeptics out there is that you're missing a great vibe. Go check them out."

    (Thanks Angel)

  • Curespotting:
  • "last week in london during my shopping at the selfridges (one of the biggest department stores in london) i had two excellent moments. first in the spirit cafe (ground flour) they played the complete bloodflowers (very loud) and a couple of minutes after there was disintegration played in the second floor (women's apparel !!!). it was the comlete record as well."

    (Thanks Denis)

"Last week one of the radio stations was doing 'March Music Madness' Everyday, before, and after the request hour for lunch, they would play two bands, and people would call in to vote on one of the bands, then they would move on to the next round. Anyway, The Cure made it to the final four, but lost out to U2. "

    (Thanks Treeweel)

"While waiting to check in at the Salt Lake City Marriott City Center, I noticed that Muzak was playing in the lobby. It sounded vaguely familiar until I recognized it as an elevator music version of Just Like Heaven."

  • We've had a report that the Roskilde Festival and several Scandinavian newspapers are saying that The Cure will most likely play the festival this year. That information is FALSE. The band were offered a spot, but they have turned it down.

  • Russian fans are organizing in hopes of getting the band to play there:

  • Cure covers:
  • "There was a Cure Friend's Party in Valence, France on March 29,30,31st, to celebrate a Cure tribute album with 14 bands covering one cure track each, and released on Mudah Peach records (mudahpeach.com), which organized the festival as well.

On the first night was Arnaud Rebotini (Zend Avesta), and on the third night were programed The Little Rabbits (Fra), Migala (Esp), Elysian Fields (USA), Sinner DC (Swi), Elm (Fra). I only went to the second night. The bands played around 45 minutes each, and between each band was shown a half-hour film with loads of short snaps of various cure stuff. Bits of videos, live at 'Champs Elysées' 1986, playing crawley, and so on, without any chronological order, and with pirate ship and carnage visors as only soudtrackck during the whole film.

On the second night thus, the bands were, in order of appearance:

Maarten (Fra, sing in English) - sound like Papas Fritas, quite fun, played a surprising jazzy cover of 'killing an arab' (I'm not even so sure now, was it 'just like heaven'?). contact: W.Scheaffer, apt 62, 11 rue de la mare aux planches, 76100 Rouen, France.

Calc (Fra, sing in english) - great! melancolic and soft but warm, a bit like Pale Saints. Brilliant version of 'plainsong'. They're the most 'well known' of the four but didn't want to headlight. visit calc.fr.st and write to calc@caramail.com for info about their cover. They're hoping to play in England this summer.

Citron (Fra sing in French an English) - they want to try and be funny but I was far from being impressed. Sound a bit better on record. average cover of lovecats.

Polagirl (Fra, sing in french and english) - a bit experimental, sometimes a bit like sonic youth. covered 'just like heaven' (or was it 'killing an arab'? see above). single sounds ok. contact: association cosmonaute, 3 impasse des 3 corbiers, 58000 Nevers, France.

It was a small venue that night, but nice crowd of 150. "

  • Curespotting:
  • "I caught VH-1's Name That Video show on Monday and they used "Friday I'm In Love" in the bid-a-vid round, the clue was "like penicilin" (the cure), "weekly planner" (friday I'm in love), I think the guy got it in 3 seconds, and he went on to win the car."

    (Thanks Nadine)

"This morning on Fox and Friends (on the Fox News Channel) they played "Maybe Someday" before going to a commercial break."

    (Thanks Chris)

"I'm sure this one's been spotted before but last night I caught a glimpse of a standard Boys Don't Cry poster on the wall of one of the opening scenes of the film Flatliners."

    (Thanks Michael)

"On March 29th, I went to go see A Perfect Circle in concert and before the band came out, they played 'Sinking'! It made my day ; ) Then right after the band got done with their set, they played 'Sinking' again! Twice hearing it! And this is not the first time theyve played it before their concert either.... back in the fall, they were playing the same song over the PA before they came out....."

  • Some news on Reeves working with Robert:
  • "According to the newspaper Le Soleil ( serious newspaper from Quebec), Reeves Gabrels is going to do a tour to promote his latest album and after that will go in the studio to work on the first solo album of Robert Smith. It says that Reeves and Robert have a good relation and that Robert did a beautiful job on 'Yesterday's Gone'. "

  • Cure covers:
  • "A new Columbus, Ohio band called 'Test Planet' was in concert Saturday night. Three songs in they played a VERY cool cover of 'Just like Heaven'. They really rock it out and have a slower, mellow third verse that picks up into a faster ending. nice to hear. Dont know if you list stuff like this, but you can get their music at www.mp3.com/testplanet. since they are influenced by the Cure, it might be up your alley."

    (Thanks Jason)

"I mentioned this once before, during my review of the Dream Tour show in Toronto, but considering all of the recent reports of Cure covers, I figured that I should mention it again.

The goth band Twilight's Mistress, from Buffalo, NY, does an excellent cover of "Siamese Twins". They've played it live several times, and have a studio version on their album "Of The Blissful And The Damned...".

The lead singer Gehf and the keyboardist Bry'n told me that as far as they're concerned, the more people who've heard of them and heard their music, the better, so if anyone would like an Mp3 of Twilight's Mistress' "Siamese Twins" cover or any other song from their album, I'd be happy to send it to them. Just contact me at SatrdyWait@aol.com."

    (Thanks Shawn)

  • Curespotting:
  • "Screwing around online, and I came across this interview with a band called Gwen Mars on Launch.com, which mentions Robert in reference to the singer's appearance. Here's the quote : "It's all part of being in this wonderful business," quips the waiflike frontman, who--with his spiky shock of blue-black hair and kohl-rimmed, Keane-painting eyes--could easily pass for Robert Smith's little brother"... and the link: http://www.launch.com/music/content/1,5850,189919,00.html "

"On March 26th, about 2 minutes into the game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Atlanta Thrashers, they played a short clip from "Why Can't I Be You?"

"The 80's channel on muzak has been showing some great taste as my girlfriend calls me from work (a smoothie place called 'juice stop') everytime they play a cure song. they've played 'purple haze,' 'lovecats,' 'perfect girl,' 'hot hot hot!!!,' 'catch,' 'lovesong,' and 'fascination street' and while i've been there i've heard several good smiths songs and a few depeche mode songs too."
