In Remembrance and Support...

Ways to help, donate and locate

"In keeping with today's (9/14/01) declaration of a national day of prayer and remembrance in the U.S. and the
observance of moments of silence across the world, I thought I should post some of the comments that have been
sent to me, in hopes that you will find strength and comfort in the support of other Cure fans around the world.

And while the days ahead may be the darkest any of us have ever seen, we WILL rise above it and be a more
united world than ever before.

My love, support and prayers to everyone around the world who has been affected by these horrific attacks."

- Craig Parker

"I just would like to let you know that Brazilians have chosen yesterday to pay homage to the victims of the
terrible events that happened in NY, Washington and Shanksville. Policeman, Fireman, child in schools all over
the country, everyone have found a way to express their feelings. In fact, we are still in shock, even a week later.

- Antonio

"I've just needed a few days to get  my thoughts together, ive been talking a lot, but not really writing much
down to people.  seems strange it happened a week ago today, very strange indeed.

from here to eternity i do hope that  everybody has learned something from the events that happened on
september 11th.  i thankfully wasnt affected directly, but i do have many friends who were wondering whether
their relatives in new york were okay.

my extreme condolences to anybody who lost family members and the injured.  i cant, and perhaps do not
even want to begin to imagine what thousands of families must be going through.

ive also heard several times that various Muslim communities and individuals were being targeted for
something that they had no involvment in.  i would be the first to stand in the way of anybody who was being
discriminated simply because it became known to another that they were of a certain religion or ethnic origin.
i would also like to remind everybody that that same intolerance for discrimination applies to anybody of any
religion at any time, or any visible minority for that matter.

i congratulate everybody who has been giving blood or making donations.  ive been impressed by the
outpouring of support that many nations have been giving america and i hope it continues.

love and prayers"

"I just wanted to say how happy I am to see that people are writing in and expressing their thoughts and
feelings on the great tragedy that befell not only on the U.S. but the enitire world Sept.11th. I would also
like to say that the U.S. is a great country that WILL DEFINITELY overcome this great tragedy.
Thankfully we will not do it alone, but as a Nation and World united against the evil that has done this.
NOTHING can justify what they did!  While I do not know anyone inNY or anyone directly affected by this
I can only say that my HEART and THOUGHTS go out to the people, their families, the firemen and policemen,
and everyone around the world who feels a personal sense of loss as I do.  I send this message to anyone who
feels this sense of loss to let you know that you are not alone.  It has been difficult toget back to daily activities
as I try to overcome what has happened. I now know that we will overcome it together.  Thanks to Chain of
Flowers for this opportunity to reach people around the world and let them know we are together.

Thanks and GOD BLESS everyone!

"I have to let this out because i feel so damn helpless and useless being so far away, but i've cried for hours, i've
lit candles for the victims, and now i just need to let America know i'm thinking of you......

While most of us here in Australia were sound asleep, we awoke to a horror that even now is so unbelievable and
is so senseless. I didn't believe the Radio News Announcer when she said what had happened in America so I put
on the tv and just couldn't believe my eyes. I cried and yelled in disbelief as i watched the horror unfold in front of
me and i went back into my room and demanded that "somebody" wake me up, for surely this had to be an awful
nightmare....?  But of course, it was real. And it was tragic. And it was inhumane. And i'll never understand the
deep hatred that could cause people to go that far....How human beings could commit such a callous crime, i'll
never understand.

I feel no anger for the people who did this. I feel numb when i see them. But there is no emotion there at all.
Which means i'm probably still in a state of shock, 6 days later. The people who did this look like ordinary human
beings. What could drive them to do this? I just don't understand.  We all get angry. We all feel hard done by at
times in our life. But we don't do that. What were they trying to prove? What's their problem? I feel such
incredible sadness at what the world has come to.

Seeing the tragedy on TV, in the papers and on the Internet is too much to bear. I know no-one in New York or
Washington, but i still feel like someone close to me has died. I don't think there is any sort of justification for
this....  And i do believe justice must be served. And I believe Americans must go forth and persevere and be even
more determined and focused than ever before. Hang onto your dreams, America, & maintain your faith, hope,
courage, and strength. You are Americans and you are a strong people and you have all the peace-loving nations
in the world by your side all the way. Our colleagues in America have lost family members and friends and it's all
so sad. We stand united in grief with you America.  It's hard enough losing someone under ordinary circumstances,
but when loved ones are missing and feared gone in this, the most awful way, it's an ordeal no human being should
ever have to endure.

But you are a strong, proud and courageous nation, America and i know you won't be defeated by this. Yes, you
will grieve, but you won't be beaten. Someone's shaken the foundations, but no-body topples the United States Of
America.  You will return to your former glory America.  You are still a great nation. And i won't let anybody
shatter my dream of visiting the USA one day. I'm not afraid, and you mustn't be afraid either, America.
We stand united with you as your friends and as fellow humanitarians to ensure justice will be served.  We honour
and salute all of you America.

How i wish there was a way to prevent a retaliation of violence. If only we could rationalise with these people
and reason with them, or try and be diplomatic about this. But this is a naive, childish view of things because the
days of reason are long gone. The world truly has lost its innocence.  And i fear the only way we will see justice
being served is through a retaliation of violence. I know grief is the most hurtful of all emotions, but you must
move forward, America. I feel so helpless being so far away, but my thoughts are with you all and i'm so sorry this
had to happen to America.  But you are a great nation and you are all wonderful citizens and we will all stand
together, not as Americans, or Europeans, or Australians, or Asians, or Americans but as human beings who
believe in the fundamental rights of human beings.  The right to life...

Hang in there and be strong, America, and know that we're standing right by your side and we are your friends."

"Thanks for your kind words and for posting those comments from people around the world.

As a NYer, one who watched from my office building in midtown as the towers burned and then collapsed, who
knows people who are still waiting word on loved ones who may or may not have been in the WTC at the time,
whose Aunt's best friend's daughter was on one of those planes, whose been crying on and off since Tuesday
morning with a sadness too heavy for the strongest heart to bear, I just want to say the these kind words and
actions of support and comfort from around the country and around the world are appreciated more than words
can express.  We, who can see the face of evil every time we look south in this great city, need to be reminded
that there is also great good....and we have been.

NY is a very international city.  Those cowards attacked not only my city and our country, but also the world on
Tuesday.  Someone, find me a country that hasn't had someone affected in some way by this act.  I wouldn't be
surprised if that is not possible.  United, not country against country, but humanity against inhumanity, we will
prevail.

Again, thanks from my sad but proud city.

Love and peace"

- Carol

"As a fellow American who is weeping over this tragedy, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for posting
those wonderful messages of encouragement from around the world.  You have no idea how much it meant to me
to read such kind and sincere remarks."

- Terri Chasteen

"I would just like to thank & commend COF (Craig & Nadine Tanner)... as a resident of Bayonne, NJ (approx. 5
miles from NYC) all of my life i had a perfect view of the world's most beautiful skyline from my bedroom
window...now those towers, which were living things, are no longer there ~ they were toppled & replaced with loss
of life, loss of security and the sounds of military war planes that can be heard constantly... I just want to thank
you and everyone in the cure family & around the world for recognizing this local & national disaster..."

- JoeyLom

"Those who try to destroy and break up the American people don't seem to realize that it only brings us closer
together, an makes us stand stronger together.

I'm out in Utah, but i have family in New York, and i feel sadden by all the lives lost.  i have taken my country for
granted, i never fully understood what i had until now.  The atrocities that have occurred this past tuesday break
my heart, it is uncomprehendable how someone could be so cruel.

I  want to thank you for posting the condolences others have sent; it is very touching to know that so many
outside the U.S. are with us in prayer; it brings tears to my eyes to see that there are so many that care and are
so willing to come together to make this world a better place.

"There's nothing left but faith", thanks to all who send their support."

- Lisa Schneider

"I'm italian and this is just to say everyone here is close to your souls. peace."

- Roberto Marzi

"There's no word to describe what we saw here on french TVs when those airjets crashed on W, NY and P.
And what is maybe the  most difficult to bare is that sentiment we can't do nothing to help your country, but cry
and pray for those who died, their families and friends.
There are many meetings, in France like in the rest of Europe, to comemorate, because it's a nightmare for the
American people, as it is for us because of course it could have happened to us.
The Cure has never wanted to be engaged in a political way, a thing that I appreciate very much, because I think
it's not their job, but Bloodflowers and Pornography are such bitter echos of  reality.

We all think of you. With all our love."

- David

"On Friday night there was a report on a French TV channel about the minute's silence in the different countries
in Europe ; somewhere in Italy ( I don't remember where ... )  they played Barber's adagio as a musical
background .

During the Dream tour when we heard it as an intro it was an intense happiness because Robert was near to
arrive on stage and after the adagio we were out of this world ...but alive .

On this Friday the Adagio carried such an intense pain , distress and sadness ... they are five thousands out of this
world now . God bless America ."

- Patrick  Voisin

"I am in England, and the happenings in New York and elsewhere yesterday have touched this nation as well. We
first heard about it early afternoon, and since then, have seen the events unfold on TV. Everyone I know is
shocked about it all, and even though this country has been touched by terrorism before, nothing could compare
with the scale and loss of life that happened.

It is very hard to take in, and this email is to let you, and your friends and family, know that we are thinking of
you in what small way we can. As you said, words do come hard and seem futile......

What comfort - if any - this has given, I do not know, but I felt that I had to say something to someone.

I do hope that you, your family, and friends are safe from all this, and to let you know, the world IS with you at
these times...."

- Neil Smith

"We are all concerned here in Italy about what has happened in New York and Washington. We are all with you."

- Alberto Dal Cin

"Just a little word to tell that French people are offering their sympathy to the families & friends of the victims,
and of course supporting every one helping.
I've watched several times the same videos on TV & I can't realize it really happened. Imagine that humans can
do such horrible things left me simply wordless. As a french proverb says : "The man is a wolf for the man". "

- Olivier Lacam

"It was very good that you mentioned that horrible-attack in new york/washinton on your homepage. I live here
in germany and i can't believe what i saw. Nobody must ignore this!!!"

- Andreas

"I would like to say that we are very shocked here in Germany what happened in the U.S. Me and a lot of my
friends have been watching the terrible scenes the whole day and night  yesterday via CNN LIVE. I've been two
times in the World Trade Center and just can't believe that it's true. If you like you can tell everybody that there
is a total solidarity with the U.S. and its citizens here in Germany. All condolences to the U.S. nation!

- Sascha Suhrke

"As a New Jersian who has spent my entire life looking at the beautiful NYC skyline day & night, I want to thank
you wholeheartedly for including kind words on this site.  I have spent many years in & around the WTC and I
am broken hearted that they are gone and that so many perished in such a horrible way.  For some of us who are
trying to understand this, I have recommended pulling out Bloodflowers and take a good hard listen to "Where
The Birds Always Sing."  I think it is appropriate at a time like this.  Thank You again."

- Coleen

"Thanks for the words of condolence you wrote on Chain Of Flowers. We are far away here in Switzerland, but in
our hearts and thoughts we are with you. Everyone I talked to is shocked and is looking ahead in fear. Now we
can only hope and pray for peace."
