What a nigth! It seems that cure, on the road
from so many years, are destined to never fade away. "The fire is
almost out": are we sure? I don't belive it.
In fact although Robert is over 40, his voice's still powerful just like
past years. They played a lot of old songs
(like The Drowning Man, A Strange Day, 100 Years, Charlotte
Sometimes, Sinking, M, etc.). About M, it
struck me particularly for its magic atmospheres but 100 Years set the
audience on fire as Simon was playing his
bass with unchecked fury! On the contrary i'm disappointed by A Forest
performance, which is played in a strange
short version and Simon didn't finish song with usual bass line. Anyway
I've to say also that acoustics wasn't really
good (some old songs, like Closedown for example, I didn't succeed
in recognizing in a while 'cause guitar sound
and bass sound got mix up very often!). About new songs, I can't say
many things 'cause I need to hear those again.
There wa a song I like too much which is Before Three, good bass
line and great emotions, melancholy atmospheres,
perfectly Cure style. As far as I'm concerned the best new
song (together The Promise). Overall the new
songs sound more rock than classical Cure sound. I don't know if
it's a good thing but I'll have certainly
the new album very soon.
Greatings to Vera, the girl close to me during the concert in the front of row.

Every time you decide to go to a concert that
takes a long trip to arrive to, you always ask yourself if it is worth.
You can be sure The Cure will never disappoint
you.
This concert is one of those I'll never forget.
There are many reasons for this.
I listen to 8 new songs, some of these (4)
I never listen to before. Thanks to Internet I had the possibility to listen
to TEOFW, Before 3, Lost and The Promise,
but I felt really upsetting when I listen to the others. All the new stuff
is very powerful. Robert's voice is better
than ever and Simon's bass is very strong. I notice a difference of sound
in drums and Perry's guitar, which is heavier.
The Promise is the one I prefer. It has a slightly different intro than
Coachella's version (Simon bass), and it grows
and grows with a wonderful solo guitar by Robert. There is only
one song I don't like very much. I think it's
called "Never", but I have to listen to the studio version of it.
The very big surprise of this concert was Closedown!
After Berlin, I've never thought I could have listen to it live
once again. When I heard the drums I wondered
if it was a dream or not? They performed the old stuff with
passion. If I have to chose which songs gave
me more intense emotions, I say One Hundred Years (stronger than
ever), Sinking and Charlotte Sometimes, much
more similar to the original than 2002's version that was a bit
slower.
As you can image, the audience went crazy
when The Cure played the singles Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven,
and Boys Don?t Cry. It's always a pleasure
to sing and dance all together!
The last encore was Plainsong and Disintegration.
I'm very happy because I knew that they would have started
with Lost and we had few possibilities to
listen to Plainsong which is one of my favourites. Disintegration came
intense as usual, with a mix of sadness, anger
and guilt. In my opinion Disintegration, Faith and Pornography are
the best ends for a concert. How the end always
is.

The show was fantastic and the setlist, too.
i liked very much all the new tracks and i liked very much tracks like
Sinking, Closedown which i've ever seen live.they
did a very slow version of Disintegration as the last track and i
have to say i liked it anyway. Great Version
of One Hundred Years , The Drowning Man and Charlotte
Sometimes. The Bands enjoyed the show and
the people in fact Robert, Simon and all the others often smiled.
And Finally i bought the new t-shirt. Anyway
a fastastic show, one of the best closed with the expression " Thank
You, Goodnight. See You Later This Year" that
make me hope for a come back in italy very soon :-)
P.S.=the new tracks are all very powerful and Robert uses his voice in the most powerful way i've ever heard.

I was present at both Imola and Naples shows
and I found them completely different one from each other.
Too many people (and not all for the Cure)
at Imola, a lot of them drunk; a setlist not appropriate for a festival,
and the group not at their best. I saw many
shows in the previous years and I never saw the cure play that way.
No words by Robert, only an encore, no smiles.
Naples was a great gig instead. I enjoyed the setlist a lot. When
the band played their classic like The drowning
man, Charlotte Sometimes, Lullaby, One hundred Years, I saw all
the audience jumping and singing and they
all enjoyed the show. The band too , I suppose, as I saw Robert's smile
(when he played Boys don't cry it was so intense).
Even people was different. They all were there for the cure and
they only want to enjoy the show.
The new songs gave strong emotions too, as
they were performed with great intensity ( the promise).
Another surprise was hearing songs like closedown,
or sinking. Yes, I think I saw the Cure at their best and it all
deserved the long journey from Bologna to
Naples to see them live once again. Thanks to all the band and the
audience for such a great night.

Immediately after the gig in Imola, after 4
hours of rest in my hometown Roma, I took the car again to go to
Napoli. My experience told me that probably
they would have change the setlist and I was right.
Wonderful concert, really good. Lot of old
songs (The drowning man, Charlotte Sometimes, Sinking, 100 years,
Play for today, M, Boys don't cry, A Forest
(in a version a bit shorter than the Imola one, where he reprised the
song while Simon Gallup was ending it with
his bass guitar).
I appreciated a couple of the new songs, good
indeed. Good audience, almost 20.000 people from Naples, Roma,
South Italy but also from the north and foreign
guys too.
The gig has been longer than the Imola one
and all the band seemed to enjoy. Even Simon Gallup smiled a couple
of times, and this is a thing to remember!
Soon the pics and short footages of Imola
and Napoli on www.pogopop.it.

Wow...12 hours following The Cure. At 15.00
p.m. (20/06/04) i was out of the hotel where just Robert & Jason
stayed at the moment, after 10 minutes Jason
with his girlfriend came out to take a walk and i took a picture with
him; after that i've been waiting other 3
hours when Simon Roger and Perry arrived from the airport, and i could
just take a pictures with Simon.
Around 7.15 p.m. the guys came out to go to
the venue for the show and Robert stopped for a while on the stairs
of the Hotel for some pictures and me my girlfriend
Linda (in the photo on the right) and our friend Valentina took
a shot with him. He was as always very kind
and i must say a Gentleman.
Then i went to the Show, an amazing show,
one of the best i have ever seen very powerful sound, expecially the
new songs that are great, i'm looking forward
to hear them on the album.
After the Great Show i went out of the restaurant
where the guys were eating and i waited from 1.00 a.m. to 3.30
a.m. when they came out. I took other picutres
and Robert and Roger signed my Staring at the sea CD, then the
fantastic day was over.
I wanna thank all the band for its kindness,
Robert is really a simple person very educated and always ready with
a smile. Thanks very much, i love you all!!!
Here
is some of the pictures!!!
