July 13th-Auburn Hills,Mi. (The Palace)
Review by Dave
The show ran about 2:40. Bob of course had his Red Wings jersey on.
Of what I could understand him saying:
"This is about what I'm doing now" before Dressing Up
"We don't play this much because it makes me sad" before Lovesong
Everything else I've forgotten or just couldn't understand.
The Forest extendo-version had the lyrics with him talking about being
an animal but more of a pet to someone else. The owner thinks he is
healthy & happy on the outside, but has no idea what is on the inside.
Or something like that.
I have to say the lights were INCREDIBLE. Just simply amazing stuff going
on during the songs. As for the show itself.I loved it.I've waited 7 years
to see them again and finally got to, up close even. My only gripe is when
are they going to dive into all those songs they said they have rehearsed
for this tour? The set list is looking to be 90-95% the same thus far.
I guess I had my hopes on hearing Strange Day, 100 yrs, or Piggy and didn't.
But it was still great. They seemed rather relaxed with Bob and Roger
exchanging grins a few times.
During WCIBU while Bob was off at the side of the stage,Simon kept
looking up at the rising and falling lights that hang from the top.It was
like he didn't trust them to not fall on his head.

The stage looked incredible . . and there was roger,at the sound stage
setting up the camera for the internet feed.Okay,so we weren't on the
floor,so no autograph but cool nonetheless.(Aside: about 8:25 the fog
machines start up,roger looks up from his computer, suprised at the time I
guess, finishes up what he's doing, and then runs THROUGH THE
AUDIENCE to backstage entrance. Not that many people seemed to
notice.) 8:30 lights go out, and overtones of "Want" fill the palace. And
. . everything is perfect, all i ever wanted. Sounds and looks great.
Again, I'll let someone more qualified fill in the details, but. . . the best
version of "Killing An Arab" yet . . . a 14 minute version of "The Forest"
. . "Disintegration," "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea," inpired
. . . "Mint Car," classic "idiot pop" (does anyone else agree with me that
the guitar riff is perfect?) . . . and robert talking (though i couldn't
understand much of what he said). I'm not sure yet, but this show
definiately challenges the Toronto prayer tour stop as my favourite
concert experiences.
