Aug. 3rd-George,Wa. (The Gorge Amphitheatre)

Review by Yosem Reichert-Sweet

The show starts an hour
late, I can barely see anything but I'm still excited Want is starting
and right when Robert tries to start singing, nothing, the microphone was
dead, so Robert and Roger look at each other and love, all good humor,
I'm happy still, their happy still, everything is fine even though I
can't see. So the roadies replace the microphone and go ahead and reread
this paragrapgh starting at nothing but replace happy with not quite as
happy.
Finally the crew manage to deal with problem and we get hear
Robert's ever so wonderful voice sing the first verse of Want, I get
ready for the second and the song ends? Well, that's ok. They play Club
America and that's pretty nice, The show is moving more smoothly now, by
standing on tip-toes I can see Roger and parts of Robert's hair. Then,
the play This Is a Lie! It was fantastic, they did it as wonderfully as
can be expected by Robert since he was a little afraid, being in front of
so many people during the daytime. That was the best part of the
daylight segment, except for the Walk when Robert graced us with his
idiot dancing.
The rest of the highlights,
Robert really got into it durin the pop-set and held an idiot-dance
contest. Somebody in section C won. WCIBY was especially good, much
more energy then in Vancouver. They played Play For Today in the second
encore which made me very happy. And for the third encore the played
Faith ("I think we've only played this once so far" - Robert "Memory
Loss" Smith) and a really wonderfull version of A Forest which ended
rather queerly. Robert and Simon were doing the normalish ending when
Simon went crazy on the bass. He kept slamming all the strings and
jumping up and down. So Robert went ahead and started up another solo
while Roger watched with a bemused smile on his face. Then all of a
sudden Simon dropped his base, picked it up and set it quickly in its
stand and stormed of the stage! Robert then ended up the song with the
ending notes to another song which I can't remember (I'm really sorry)
said Thank You and they all left.
