@ALBUM: Paradise Alley On september 7th, 1978, Tom Waits went into the studio to record songs for the movie "Paradise Alley". Most of these songs were never officialy published, and that's amazing because "Paradise Alley" sessions produced some songs that (in my opinion) are among the best he's ever written. The boot CD 'A Nickel's Worth of Dreams' has 5 songs from these sessions: 16. (Meet Me In) Paradise Alley 17. Annie's Back In Town 18. Bad Liver & a Broken Heart 19. With a Suitcase (Rhythm Section) 20. With a Suitcase (Streetband) And the first 4 songs are also available on the new boot CD 'Drunk on The Moon'. A great live version of the song "Annie's Back In Town" is on the Sydney 79 concert CD "Cold Beer On A Hot Night". Anyway, here are the words of a great song: @SONG: Annie's Back In Town In the evening he stumbles home with his tie undone, As the moon sweeps 7th avenue, as usual You lie awake at night You remember when Now that Annie's back in town Well I know why you're drinking I know your alibi So don't make excuses Those are tears in your eyes And you're falling back In love Again Now that Annie's back in town Well it came down through the grapevine It put your business on the street I hear you've been hanging out till dawn In some lunch room (somewhere) Well you thought you've gotten over her But that was till you found That Annie's back in town All the corner boys are all trouble-makers And the sailors are all fools Well it seems like some things round here I guess they'll never change Oh but it's always good for business Guess we'll be seeing you around Now that Annie's back in town
