After much speculation and delay, two live performances in 1993, and a lot of reworking this past May, we finally got the opportunity to record it. In order to recapture the spirit of the ³Images and Words² sessions, we reunited with David Prater, Doug Oberkircher and Bear Tracks Studios. We feel the song has come a long way in the past 6 years and here it is ! Many thanks must be given to the on-line ³Ytse-Jammers² who helped make this recording finally become a reality. The 2nd half of this recording is taken from the ³Uncovered² show which we did at Ronnie Scottıs Jazz Club in London this past January. The idea behind the show was to have a little fun and pay tribute to some of the bands we grew up listening to, in a small and intimate setting. We had to learn over an hour and a halfıs worth of cover songs in our hotel rooms and at soundchecks during our Japanese Tour at the beginning of 1995 (not to mention, go through the tragic Kobe Earthquake !). In the end, the ³Uncovered² show, and all the events leading up to it, were a very memorable experience for us all. The weekend was made even more special because it gave us the opportunity to work with some great artists and friends, such as Steve Hogarth and Steve Rothery of Marillion, Barney Greenway of Napalm Death, Bruce Dickinson and Steve Howe. Here are some excerpts from that very special evening. We hope this tides you over until we release our next full length album sometime in 1996. Omura @SONG: A CHANGE OF SEASONS Music by Dream Theater Lyrics by Mike Portnoy I. The Crimson Sunrise [at 0:00] (Instrumental) II. Innocence [at 3:49] I remember a time My frail, virgin mind watched the crimson sunrise Imagined what it might find Life was filled with wonder I felt the warm wind blow I must explore the boundaries Transcend the depth of winterıs snow Innocence caressing me I never felt so young before There was so much life in me Still I longed to search for more But those days are gone now Changed like a leaf on a tree Blown away forever into the cool autumn breeze The snow has now fallen and my sunıs not so bright I struggle to hold on with the last of my might In my den of inequity viciousness and subtlety struggle to ease the pain struggle to find the same Ignorance surrounding me Iıver never been so filled with fear All my lifeıs been drained from me The end is drawing near... III. Carpe Diem [at 7:16] Iıll always remember The chill of November The news of the fall The sounds in the hall The clock on the wall ticking away ³Seize the Day² I heard him say Life will not always be this way Look around Hear the sounds Cherish your life while youıre still around We can learn from the past But those days are gone We can hope for the future But there might not be one The words stuck in my mind alive from what Iıve learned I have to seize the day To home I returned Preparing for her flight I held with all my might Fearing my deepest fright She walked into the night She turned for one last look She looked me in the eye I said, ³I Love You... Good-bye² IV. The Darkest Of Winters [at 9:48] (Instrumental) V. Another World [at 13:02] So far or so it seems All is lost with nothing fulfilled Off the pages and the T.V. screen Another world where nothingıs true Tripping through the life fantastic Lose a step and never get up Left alone with a cold blank stare I feel like giving up I was blinded by a paradise Utopia high in the sky A dream that only drowned me Deep in sorrow, wondering why Oh come let us adore him Abuse and then ignore him No matter what, donıt let him be Letıs feed upon his misery Then string him up for all the world to see Iım sick of all your hypocrites holding me at bay And I donıt need your sympathy to get me through the day Seasons change and so can I Hold on Boy. No time to cry Untie these strings, Iım climbing down I wonıt let them push me away Oh come let us adore him Abuse and then ignore him No matter what, donıt let him be Letıs feed upon his misery Now itıs time for them to deal with me VI. The Inevitable Summer [at 16:59] (Instrumental) VII. The Crimson Sunset [at 20:13] Iım much wiser now A lifetime of memories run though my head They taught me how for better or worse, alive or dead I realize thereıs no turning back Life goes on the offbeaten track I sit down with my son Set to see the Crimson Sunset May years have come and gone Iıve lived my life, but now must move on Heıs my only one Now that my time has come Now that my life is done We look into the sun ³Seize the day and donıt you cry, Now itıs time to say good-bye Even though Iıll be gone, I will live on² @SONG: FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND/LOVE LIES BLEEDING Originally recorded by Elton John Written by Elton John/Bernie Taupin From the album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" - 1973 The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day Chorus : And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands I wonder if those changes Have left a scar on you Like all the burning hoops of fire That you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl You'll make it back somehow Chorus @SONG: PERFECT STRANGERS Originally recorded by Deep Purple Written by Blackmore/Glover/Gillan From the album "Perfect Strangers" -1984 Can you remember remember my name As I flow through your life A thousand oceans I have flown And cold spirits of ice All my life I am the echo of your past I am returning the echo of a point in time Distant faces shine A thousand warriors I have known And laughing as the spirits appear All your life Shadows of another day And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand We must remain Perfect Strangers I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow A strand of silver hanging through the sky Touching more than you see The voice of ages in your mind Is aching with the dead of the night Precious life (your tears are lost in falling rain) And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand We must remain Perfect Strangers @SONG: THE ROVER / ACHILLES LAST STAND / THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME Originally recorded by Led Zeppelin I. The Rover [at 0:00] Written by Jimmy Page/Robert Plant From the album "Physical Graffiti" - 1975 II. Achilles Last Stand [at 1:05] Written by Jimmy Page/Robert Plant From the album "Presence" - 1976 It was an April morning When they told us we should go As I turn to you You smiled at me How could we say no? With all the fun to have To live the dreams we always had Woa the songs to sing When we at last return again Sending off a glancing kiss To those who claim they know To know the streets the seaman hears The devil is in his hole Oh to sail away To sandy lands and other days Oh to touch the dream Hides inside and never seen, yeah Into the sun the south the north Lies the first of hope The shackles of commitment fell In pieces on the ground Oh to ride the wind To tread the air above the din Oh to laugh aloud Dancing as we fought the crowd To seek the man whose pointing hand The giant step unfolds With guidance from the curving path That churns up into stone If one bell should ring In celebration for a king So fast the heart should beat As proud the head with heavy feet, yeah III. The Song Remains The Same [at 6:00] Written by Jimmy Page/Robert Plant From the album "Houses Of The Holy" - 1973 Honolulu now... Sing out Hare Hare, dance the Hoochie Koo. City lights are oh so bright, as we go sliding, sliding, sliding through. @SONG: THE BIG MEDLEY I.
