Frequently Asked Questions on SSNs and Privacy

The SSN FAQ has now been broken up into several sections. This section covers "actual FAQs"; that is, it responds to the questions that are most frequently asked of me.

This FAQ covers questions on Social Security Numbers and Privacy. If your question is about applying for a Social Security Card or about Social Security Payments, I recommend you contact the SSA directly. I don't have useful information on those subjects.
