Parking Violations

In 1993, parking enforcement was delegated by law from the courts to local "Parking Processing Agencies" (Vehicle Code [VC] section 40200 et seq.) Information on how to contest a Notice of Parking Violation is printed on the citation (VC 40207).

In essence, if a person receives an incorrect notice and wishes to contest a parking citation, it must be done according to the instructions provided with the citation. If a contestant is unhappy with the results of the administrative procedure, the contestant may then seek relief through the courts (VC 40230).
