CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES

Child support agencies seeking information to quickly locate absent parents, their assets and information to aid in enforcing court-ordered child support should consult the California Department of Child Support Services.

The new department was created by the Legislature in 1999 to consolidate assorted child support services that were spread among various state agencies. The consolidated programs include the California Parent Locator Service and California Central Registry, which were administered by the Attorney General's Office.
