Legal Support and Technology Division

Office Locations: Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

Career Opportunities: Legal Office Administrators/Supervisors, Managers, Analysts, Librarians, Legal Secretaries, Information Systems Analysts, Clericals, Student Assistants/Interns.

The mission of the Legal Support and Technology Division is to provide law office management, legal document processing, research, information and technology services to over 1,350 executive, attorney and professional staff in the executive and legal divisions. The division is organized into five sections and programs as summarized below:

Legal Support Services provides a broad array of administrative, clerical and secretarial support services to the law offices of the Attorney General; maintains the case docket system, central files, and provides reproduction, mail/overnight courier, and Notary Public services.

Law Library Services provides reference and research, compiles legislative histories, conducts and coordinates training for Lexis, Westlaw and CD-ROM legal research services, arranges for inter-library loans; and, orders required publications for the legal divisions.

Law Practice Support Services provides automated law practice support services including litigation support, civil and criminal law brief banks, electronic data interchange, trial presentation support, and database indexing and text retrieval for complex litigation cases.

Network and Technology Services provides on-site technical analysis, support and training in the use of desktop personal computers, laptops, and printers; provides a wide range of services to enable staff to proficiently use the software programs available to the wide area network, the Internet, and remote access.

Staff Services Training Section provides a variety of continuous training programs for clerical, secretarial and supervisory staff in the legal offices, as well as orientation training for new employees to the Attorney General’s Office.

Case Management Team provides development, design, training, maintenance, database administration, and ongoing user support of the case management, time entry, calendaring, document management, and risk management systems used by the legal divisions and executive staff.
